2005 C55 AMG
1st time at drag strip with C55
Finally took the C55 to the drag strip tonight. It was a nice evening. Mostly in the 70's with low humidity. Best run of the night was the last.
Reaction: 0.7178
60 ft: 2.0601
330 ft: 5.7600
1/8 ET 8.7361
1/8 MPH: 83.80
1/4 ET: 13.4641
1/4 MPH: 104.18
With cooler temperatures it's defiantly capable of 13.2s or less.
I was running with a full tank of gas. Michelin Pilot Sports PS2s (255/35) at about 28 psi. Very little wheel spin as the track was prepped very very well.
The active handling is way too sensitive in this car. Even with T/C off it's still too easy to activate. Anything beyond 2200 rpm for launch and car wants to break loose even before I'm ready to go.
The only modern sedan that was faster was a CTS-V at around 12.5.
Just realized there is a sticky for drag times. I'll post it over there.

Really?? Ask Jimmy at the E55 forums if that is true??? Most I have seen (new 2009 ) are doing a 12.2 -12.5 runs at 110-114; havent seen a stock one break into 11s (personally anyway). Obliterate ANY sedan, even a modded E 55?? HMMM, I beg to differ. You may want to trek on over to the drag times on the E55 forums?
JTurkel says: I've seen the new ones running 12s this summer, especially with the high DAs. I've even seen the W211 E55 (modded albeit) pull on one
+ 1 on that at Morrocco!!!!

i dont wanna start a debate/argument over one car vs another because i admire both of these cars in question, BUT per dragtimes.com
CTS-V (new) with pulley, headers, tune: 11.8 at 121.8
http://dragtimes.com/Cadillac-CTS-V-Timeslip-17541.html
Stock: 12.0 @ 120
http://dragtimes.com/Cadillac-CTS-V-Timeslip-18350.html
Stock: 12.3 @ 121
http://dragtimes.com/Cadillac-CTS-V-Timeslip-16478.html
Stock: 12.3 @ 117.5
http://dragtimes.com/Cadillac-CTS-V-Timeslip-16235.html
Now if I recollect correct, the fast E55 stock has trapped 118, leading me to believe that all conditions the same, the CTS-V is going to have a 2 or so mph greater trap speed.
However, with mods, the fastest nonnitrous E55 just ran an 11.0 at 130 mph without longtubes a couple of weeks ago in the heart of summer. should be hitting 10s with longtubes in winter months no doubt (Alan's car, i think his handle is Bassn07 or something)
and for some CTSV dyno slips:
both with tune btw, and notice that one is on 95 octane and one is on a dynojet (reads high)
http://dragtimes.com/2009-Cadillac-C...phs-17324.html
http://dragtimes.com/2009-Cadillac-C...phs-17855.html
for comparison purposes, the current dyno record W211 E55 AMG is 578.5whp and 640 wtq on a low-reading dynodynamics (100 octane, but down to 93 or 91, it would still be high, probably 550, and still on a dynodynamics)

2005 C55 AMG
Well, to end the argument about the CTS-V and E55, it was the older model and it wasn't supercharged at all but he could have had some modifications. It was some old man having a good time.
