nada my friend. The only thing you can really do is the fan mod. Everything else is diagnostic info and testing.

Well I was told by an operator that there is a stage 3 octane mod that helps a little...Set at 86 from factory and they change it to 93 with the star..Not sure exactly of the theory behind it but it supposedly helps a little in performance...Was just curious if we had any star experts in here among the countless others...

I assume it'd apply a slightly more aggressive timing curve to coincide with the higher octane.

By default the octane in US market cars is set to 91. The change to 93 retards the timing a bit.

the higher the octane number will allow for more advanced, not retarded timing.

What's what I meant to say. But I'm still under the impression that the default is 91 octane.I did this so long ago that I forgot already. If I find it, I'll post screen prints from the STAR system for this mod.

There are 4 stage in the star diag : base, 89, 91 and 93 by default it is base. i made it 93 in my car and the car leaned at upper rpm.
Also there is the fuel quantity adjustment: base, leaned, slightly enriched and enrich. i made it enrich the afr at low rpm was slightly increased but it is still leaned at upper rpm.

so i returned everything to base, when there is a tune in the car specially Jerry's tune no advantage to change those things.

So base is 89?
Did you have a custom or mail in tune; since you're also OOC ( out of country) I'm also assuming u had an a/f gauge setup, was it in the tailpipe or through a bung in the headers.

cheers.

I got my mechanic to return everything to base for me.. I've noticed a decrease in power but better fuel consumption (the reason for taking things back to base).

Should I put it up to 93 octane? I'm putting in 98 Octane fuel in it(highest available in Australia) so it's getting the high octane fuel but from what I can gather it isn't set to manage it properly?

your 98 octane in australia is not equal to 98 octane in the US. it is equal to our 93 octane.

I thought it was something like that, thanks for clearing that up. I'm quite sure it's on 93 as I told the mechanic I wouldn't ever put anything less than 98 in the car so I think it's on the 93 setting, maybe it was when everything else was set back to base I lost a bit of power.
