Looks like Brandon/Code3 took another Route

So someone bought the rights to produce the Code3 S/C Pulley, but guess what...Brandon works there too!

I do want to say that I have never had a problem with Brandon/Code3, I'm posting this purely for informational purposes. I have had both the Code3 Pulley and the Code3 intake and I was pleased with the product, but ended up wanting more power in the end.(proof that power corrupts!)
I do know however, that many people have had issues with Code3 and other people have been searching out their products. That being said, here is a way to get their products and hopefully it will be less painless as in the past. My personal opinion is that Brandon has great ideas, but bad follow through. Only my 2 cents tho. I still wish him luck in the future whatever path he choses.

And here is the reference link from the other forum:

Damn these big companies and their enormous amount of capital. On a side note, we have had good success machining down the stock pulley to the desired size. Our machine shop charges 375.00, so if you have one local that's a really good route to take. Costs less and you get OEM reliability.

My Code III has been on about 18 mths and has been great!!! Cept for the initial belt shred, the things been running great. No CELS or other issues and no bearing failures. Customer service, well, that's a whole other issue...................

to be honest, that is a bit high. i would rather purchase a brand new one for 450 and keep the stock one in case the new one or the stock one has backplate problems.....rather than paying a whopping 375 to machine down one pulley

I've had zero problems with the pulley since installed (save the initial belt), its been quiet and make nice boost without the CEL issues a LOT of guys with the 181s experience.

When I first got my 185 and before I got the 185 tune, I would throw CEL's all the time. Then I got a tune and headers, haven't gotten a CEL since. And of course, now I have something to clear the codes, but haven't used it yet. And with the headers, I seem to be making 20lbs of boost max, not 22lbs. HUGE difference with the headers. Every drive is like an E ticket at Disneyland.
And if you don't know what that is, you young people should go snap some whips.

pull off the weather stripping lining the firewall of the engine bay when you install the intake. you will get a little better ventilation and a much louder supercharger whine

Just ordered mine. Can't wait. Also since I'll be taking the pulley off, I'll have a chance to put on my PTE Thermostat.

I went ahead and got stock tune first. Still waiting for the file from Jerry. ETA should be 2nd week of Oct. for the pulley. Does anyone know if there are actually 3 versions of the Code3 pulley? From the install document, I see that the pulley is "ribbed". Is the the latest version or 2nd?

cheers~

I know Brandon.. I agree with some of the posts.

he has great ideas.. but he was a 1 man band and he has a young son that needed some medical attention last year and his wife lost her job. Maybe I'm providing too much info.

But business is business and everybody is entitled to their opinion.

He has suffered through the tough economy and landed at HP Autoworks.

Just an FYI. According to the HP Autowerks website the pulley sale has been extended to the end of the month.

Seriously, my Code 3 pulley has been pretty good and yes ^^^^^ there are
two generations of the pulley. I have the first with the very aggressive cuts that tore my belt. After it wore in, there was no belt problem in well over a year now. The second gen had less aggressive cuts on the pulley, so it was initially easier on belts (than mine anyway). I like the first gen because I never hear that belt slip at all. It doesnt boost like a 185 cranker pulley BUt is probably on par with a 178 or 181 and I have never thrown a CEL with it (neither before nor after install or tune), so thats a testament to the quality. It really is a nice piece when you look at it and it comes with a nice bearing too that ought to last quite a long time. My 25 year Benz mechanic had no idea it wasnt factory when he first looked at it and commented how it looked "factory" to him. A really nice add-on feature to get is the pulley wrap after you do the Code 3 pulley.

Seems like the belt wrap kit is also out of stock, hopefully HPA will produce those as well. Does anyone know if the belt wrap kit replaces the idler pulley, or which 3 pulleys do they replace. The #4 one i'm thinking of replacing soon as a precaution. #6 has been replaced.
