Ziptie the lower coolant line to the reservoir hose and it will be fine.. tying the coolant lines together wont hold up and will rub. I had the same issue at first.

Question

Hey guys I had the idler go out on me last night..thank God it was near my house..after some night inspection it was found it's all idler pulley related..opened my hood saw belt off and pulley is on under carriage cover as noticed by hitting the bottom of cover and it bounced..well anyways I haven't yet been able to recover the idler pulley but the bolt for it is toast..I honestly don't know if the idler was redesigned one sold in new 185 kits anyways been reading about this pulley saver kit by Needswings...please point out where to buy I presume needswings but is there somewhere else? On average to all who suffered idler pulley damage what required being replaced?

Vic you had a very typical "idler pulley" problem on a crank pulley modded car. Havent seen these on the Code 3 SC pulley changes. Go to Needswings.com for the kit. It states: With the larger 185 pulley the idler is now turning at a speed of 3.08 times the engine speed or about 18,500 rpm at full revs. This is excessive and addressed to decrease stress on the pulley and increase its life span.

The kits is about $200.00

I'm surprised I never saw this thread. I would highly recommend getting the kit as well. I had bought a 178 crank pulley a while back and remember reading all the horror stories of pulleys going bad and reeking havoc. So I became paranoid and kept hearing odd pulley related sounds, but once I installed the nws psk, the pulleys were much quieter and a lot smoother. I did notice that the belts seem to be a lot tighter now.

I have been using the kit for what seems to be almost a year and every thing has been great.

I presume this link is it...

http://needswings.com/Pulley-Saver-K...gs-psk185.aspx

Listen guys checkout these pics I was going less then 1mph out of my driveway when I heard something from engine bay area fall as I turned my wheel...I honestly after examining bolt and idler feel it hasn't much damage...the location where the bolt goes only has the groves a little messed up at beginning but the idler and bolt have very little damage the belt don't look bad either..give me opinions? I'm thinking the screw got loose over time and by miracle it came off before I can rev engine to force further damage...I was thinking of putting it back on and once I get the PSK have it installed...what you all think?

I would just use the psk kit. Its been proven to work over this past yr. My EC idler pulley was on its way out after about 6000 miles and this is the new version.

Looks like the bolt came loose. You can see where the pulley bearing was spinning, and grinding...

+1,

1) peace of mind
2) increase pulley bearings reliability
3) more SC belt wrapping

PSK FTW!

I bought a brand new EC 185 kit from a member a while ago. Im getting ready to install it along with a PSK. Can anyone verify that this Idler Pulley is the correct new 19,000 RPM bearing? It has 0 markings on it. I dont wont to put it on if it isnt.....Maybe Eurocharged can help???

Thanks
