Project....Retrofit 05+ Center Console on C32

Well yes... i been collecting parts for the last 2 months as i always love the newer W203 (05+) and on and i wanted a navi but didn't want aftermarket. So theres been a lot of debate on what works what doesnt.... as im not finshed nor yet attempting this project.... as i need a couple more things... but i wanted to see today if my unit actually works as I pulled it out of a wreck C55 along with some of the other parts i needed...... A lot of people said its not worth it... but so far im still in a reasonble budget

Breakdown on what i had to pay...

Navi

$30.00 - 05+ Standard Ac Controls and interior piece

$25.00 - 05 + Buttons.... I got these on ebay but they sent me the wrong ones as i needed the ones with heated seats....Waiting on those..

$250.00 - Plastic Frame and Harness (wire loom)

$300.00 - New Amp and Speakers (I have the bose system... so i needed to redo this anyway)

Here the pics.... Keep in mind... all i was doing today was checking the unit.... I head a lot of things about the MCUII not booting because it doesn't have the Audio Controller in it.....Well boots up for me... So not sure if it shatters that theory or not... Anyway its just a heads up on what works in our older D2B cars

What Works:
Ac controller - I want the digital
05+ buttons - There are 2 version of these,One is plug n play the other isn't
Navi - Boots up with only 1/3 of the harness hooked up

Issues:
Sound- I don't have the harness fully hooked up as it was a test, but i did find an issue with the harness and My car.....Seems that one of the hook ups to the custom made wireloom (Male) is smaller than one of the hookups from the Car itself... so i couldn't snap that part of the wires in... Pic on what i mean...This could be due to that i have the BOSE system.

Part of the Harness itself

Pic from the Car Harness

Pics!

Anyway guys, When im finally ready to go through with the project, Ill post it up, This is what you would call a teaser or test

Should be pretty sweet if it all works out. Out of curiosity, what on the Bose system needed redone?

Also agree your badges need moved. Too narrow and too high on the trunk it seems.

Haha on the badges... thats how i bought it stock in 2006.... never change them.... O well ill have it adjusted when im in the shop next time.... On the bose..... well im not sure yet as im not done doing the wireing and i have not attempted the project yet.... I just tested my unit. The issue is.... The Navi is a Harman Kardon sound system.... and my Stock audo headset is the bose......Now heres the issue.... No one is sure that the Navi can talk to the Amp (And for what its worth im pretty sure it won't) so... ill have to replace the amp with an aftermarket and replace the speakers as they are 2ohm and pretty much all aftermarket is 4ohm so ill be rewireing those as well...

Really the cluster is what kills the C32's interior...that big ole speedo looks silly IMO.

Glad I inspired you to do this with my project...

When it comes to the cables...What unit did you have before? It looks like this is a Bose problem to me but I look into it for you.

You have ordered the cable loom for NTG 2.5 Had Disk. Not for the unit you have in the pics.

Glad to help you with this so it works in the end.

What model year is your car?

The loom itself for the navi fits perfect everything snapped in. Heres the issue....I have a audio 10 or 20 whatever it is and the BOSE system (Never had a navi in it) On the Harness from the Car side (Female) their are 2 main connectors.... and on the Wireloom there are 2 spots for these main connectors (Male) 1 of those main connectors fits.... The other one as you can see in the second picture from the top is longer and doesn't fit...
The car is the same as yours pretty much

Very nice!! Next project will be to retrofit the 05+ guage cluster into your dash!! Make people think your cars an 05... Props to you on taking the challenge of the retrofit though.

This is an important tip guys.... So listen

Russell can you zoom in on the right connector (the bigger on) Some Button Clusters do not have this...(At least one of mine didn't have it.. maybe it was broken but i notice this when i was looking at it) hints who ever does this project to check the buttons they buy... you want to make sure it has those!

Thats the plug for the seat heater harness. Ive installed the harness and added seat heat to a few cars.

You're the man. Good luck with the project. I know I don't have nearly enough patience for this type of work.

In theroy im past one of the harder parts besides the sound.. Yes the navigation will work. Just getting the unit to power off and turn on with out any antitheft or coding involved... Keep in mind i have no fiberoptics hooked up to eather...and its still boots..Um ill have to look into the sirius not sure if this navi had that system. It came from an O5 C55 so the 05 55 guys Do you have sirius? The hard part is getting the sound to work......

Haha Pics of the car since im getting pms about it. My 190e that i picked up for $100.00 bucks is next to it (89 2.6 Manual 128k) Lots of mods... Wont post about it since this is a Console thread
