I went through a lot of trouble to locate and purchase some CRC MAF cleaner, when I took my car to a guy who specialises in Mercedes (not agent) maintenace and gave him the cleaner he told me that the C32 does not have a MAF???? But rather air flow heaters????? Can anyone advise as I believe that these sensors and heating wires should be cleaned periodically with air filter maintenance.

Our cars have MAP sensors. It's located on top of the intercooler. Take the TB and the left hand side plenum and you should be able to reach it.
Is it advisable to clean it with MAF cleaner, or should one leave it alone as i believe that these sensors etc... can easily be damaged?

no you not gona damage the sensor. I cleaned it twice first time for my clk320 (gone) and second time for my CLK500 just like couple weeks ago.

Using oil based filters like K&N seems to have a knack for messing with the intake sensors. I just cleaned the MAF on my Subaru because it was running like crap with the cold weather. You can use the CRC Electronics Cleaner as well as the MAF cleaner, same stuff for 2 dollars less. I saw both at the auto parts store.
Just hold the can far enough away that the spray doesnt hit the contacts on a sensor with too much force. Dont be afraid to soak it. Some of the guys on the Subaru pages actually fill a small container with the stuff and dunk the whole unit in the solution and swirl it around.

Thanks for the info, but the Tb and left side plenum??? Excuse my ignorance, a pic or 2 would be great.....thanks in advance.

Exploreyou do not clean a MAP sensor. It's just an air pressure sensor and no debris or air or anything flows through it.

picture would be great, i also could not locate it...
most cars have them somewhere on/near the intake tube

Really? The amount of crankcase blow off seems like it would do a lot more than a little bit of oil from an air filter...Using oil based filters like K&N seems to have a knack for messing with the intake sensors.

What exactly is the different between MAP and MAF sensors. I know the MAF measures the amount of air flow, and the MAP measures pressure. The MAF does this through voltage detection. If the MAF gets an oily cover on it the voltage detection is degraded. Is the MAP not similar in design?you do not clean a MAP sensor. It's just an air pressure sensor and no debris or air or anything flows through it.

+1 on the Pictures. I'd also like to do this. Car idles a bit jerky when it's cold outside.
