Going the way of the second cat removal...
So in an effort to get a throatier sound out of my car without spending an unnecessarily high amount of money, I'm going to remove the secondary cat from my car.
I will post a before, with just res. delete, and an after w/second and res. delete. Hopefully it sounds good.

i have my resonators and seconds deleted..the drone isn't really noticeable unless you're going uphill slow in say 2nd gear or something.

i was advised by my exhaust guy not to use aftermarket hi flo cats. he said they wont last and that the m/b cats are better than most hi flo's. he is building me a true dual exhaust with res delete and secondary cats gone. should be sweet!

Highflow Cats
A company called Eastern Catalytic (happens to be one of my clients) makes a product called "bullet cats"
http://www.easterncatalytic.com/prod...erformance.php
These are the cats that the majority of the high end systems use... Im having them do a custom setup for me...
3 possible scenarios...
1. Custom Bullet Cat setup
2. Custom 100 cell motorcylce cat setup
3. Complete secondary cat delete
Ill post videos with sound clips once ready...
Thoughts anyone?

He's actually got it 100% backwards... the OEM cats are Ceramic core and they DEFINITELY go bad (quite commonly too). The high flow metal core cats run hotter, fire up quicker, and last much longer than the OEM counterparts (and they flow better of course). I would be concerned of his competency if he is giving advice like that.

Not a proponent ditching catalytic converters on most highway machines.
How hard up are you for another ten horsepower? Sound is subjective, but a farty V6 impresses no one.
Notwithstanding the fact that doing so in the States is highly illegal, its deleterious effects on tailpipe emissions for those suffering respiratory aliments ought to prompt a serious reassessment of this modification. Pity the poor bloke downwind. Certainly not an environmental zealot, but I’m compelled to breathe that crap, too.
We’ve been down this discounted road before, AMS Performance…https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...y-75-ebay.html
Setting aside for the moment Toyota’s throttle pedal woes, are you at all familiar with the manufacturers’ rigorous emissions compliance imperatives and durability testing procedures? MB’s catalytic converters are required by law to serve their purpose for five years and/or 80,000 miles – on their dime. Granted, some C55’s were the subject of an expensive EPA-mandated recall for their failed converters.
Sufficient flow and appropriate scrubbing efficacy are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Certain you’re aware of several supercharged AMG pilots here who’ve documented and reported diminished torque after having 86’ed their OE catalytic converters. Installed some “high flow metal core” aftermarket catalytic converters in a previous hot rodding project. Even with proper A/F ratios and sub-1400° EGT, the damn things smoldered and blew chunks after their first track day.
Best I can tell you’ve not yet shared your engineering credentials. Trust you’ll share them in due course.
