True dual exhaust for c55...whose done em?
Hey guys,
I'm planning on reworking my exhaust system for my car to a true dual set up with an x-pipe right after the downpipes. However, my only speed bump I see in making the true dual exhaust is the rear sway bar. It has that bump on the left side that gives clearance to the single pipe, but not to the other side. Did anyone, who has done this, just route the pipe a little lower on that side compared to the stock route for the piping?
Any input on the exhaust path, and especially if you think an x-pipe would help create more gains and reduce drone, would be beneficial.
Thanks again guys.

The only thing I'd like to do is maybe install the x-pipe then to reduce drone...
or maybe put a glass-pack style resonator to reduce a little bit of drone?

95% of the exhaust restriction in the entire exhaust system is from:
-stock exhaust manifolds
-stock primary cats
-stock secondary cats
Everything past the 2nd cats is free flowing (both resonator & mufflers) nothing else needs to be done including changing piping. If you tackle those three issues (which it looks like you have already started w/ 2nd cat & res delete) then you will be done with the exhaust system.

With the kleemann headers and true dual exhaust I gained a little south of 20rwhp. I am sure most of the power was from the headers fwiw. The right side just needs some good work from a shop, but it can be done.

I have true dual. I think I did a more extensive write up when I first got it done. The cliff notes version is that my buddy owns a performance shop in the area and has been doing my cars for years. With the C55 we went with the res/cat delete and x-pipe. The car sounds vicious on cold start and has a real nice tone to it once it gets warmed up (and when your left foot gets heavy). I don't have any sound or pics, but there are examples all over youtube of similar set ups.

He's kinda busy with that huge truck of his, i mean all the cracker barrel gatherings, nascar races, and helping ppl move their plasmas take up a lot of time. And good luck trying to get country music reception in the middle of Hialeah.

With your set up is drone reduced and the exhaust smoother sounded (rather than like a tractor) because of the mixing of the exhaust pulses?

I made the switch to a true dual setup with an x pipe yesterday.

I actually think it sounds a little smoother than just having the secondaries and resonator removed. I havnt been able to get on it WOT with the windows down yet due to it being rainy in ATL the past couple days so I dont have a good reference to my old setup.

You know most bang for the buck would be a single 3-3.5" flowmaster exhaust. You'll save weight, get better scavenging and it will be cheaper.
