Why does my car unlock all the door only when it feels like it?
Ever since I bought my car, when I park and open the driver's door my car only unlocks the rest of the doors when it feels like it. Does anyone know why this is? Is it an 05 thing maybe? My old 06 C230 would unlock all the door everytime. I asked about this last time I was at the dealer and they went through all the settings and couldn't come up with an expanation (I didn't pay for full blown diagnosis though).

Do you have large items in the trunk. So when you take a hard right turn your doors unlock? Item will hit the rear SAM and cause the locks to activate.

I have this same exact problem and have yet to figure it out. I've been trying to see if maybe its something with the light sensor, or amount of time you're parked, or what sequence you do certain actions to get out of the car, but nothing.

No, when you're in the car and getting out, not when you're outside and opening with the key fob.

I think I remember trying that, but I'll try it again. Even still though, I know sometimes it will unlock all the doors with the engine still running. It's just annoying because I always put stuff in the driver side rear door, so half the time I get out and the rear door is still locked!

That doesn't work either Frank. I've tried many different combinations in the past (even waiting a few seconds to see if there's a difference, etc) with no clear answers.

When the key is still inserted and the car is still on, opening the driver's door from the inside will unlock all the doors.
When the car is switched off (key inserted or not), opening the driver's door will still unlock all the doors.
At least this is what is supposed to happen, and for me, it happens correctly 95% of the time.
Occasionally, opening the driver's door from the inside does NOT unlock all the doors. When that has happened, I have at times locked all the doors again (by pressing the lock button on the console), and then repeating the act of opening the driver's door from the inside; and then it always unlocks all the doors. It is an unpredictable thing. I suspect it is the occasional electronic "glitch" that I've learned to live with, as it happens very infrequently for me.

Also, your car remembers if you use the back seat or not.
If your car is locked and you walk up on it, hit your keyfob unlock twice(once for driver, once for all doors), open your rear door and close it, then get in and drive.
It will remember you opened the rear door and unlock it the first time instead of the second time. It's great for groceries.
Hope this makes sense.

I only have to press the unlock button on the key once for the car to unlock all the doors and I always put stuff in the back seat and it makes no difference with this problem.
