blackhousing headlights
Does anyone have instructions on taking apart the the headlights and what kind of paint was used to paint and sealant to close it back up?
I'm about to do my grill in 3m cf vinyl and realized how much my headlights would stand out (don't want to put tinted vinyl on the lights) so i think doing a blackhousing would work well.
Advans, anyone?

I have always wondered if anyone has had enough skill to vinyl the headlight housing with all the curves because I think some of that 3D CF vinyl would look really good in the headlights IMO.

I want to see someone duplicate this onto a W203. I am considering it but I would have a shop do it since I am not experienced with vinyl.

I'm not experienced either and so far the only thing I did on my car was the grill, which looks decent unless you're looking at it up close lol.

I know that it is real CF but thats an expensive job and the 3D CF vinyl will give it a similar look minus the glossiness. Just something different from the matching color ones.

oh i see. I don't know how well it would hold up to the heat/light though. It has a 4 year outdoor life-span and i think all the light and extra heat from the headlights would wear it down some. I'm just planning on doing it one with regular flat black paint so I don't have to ever open my headlights again.
But if you do cover it, please let us know how much a shop charged and how it holds up!

Well if I do get it done I will look into both real CF or the vinyl and go from there. I dont want to do it to my clear headlights so I would need to buy BIX first. So this project is in the back of my mind since I have a few more things at hand now. Make sure to post up pics of your headlight once you finish it.

just get a heat gun or bake the head light in the oven with the bulbs out of course. Then you just pry the sealant back with a flat head screw driver. Its easier to open it up from the corners first.
Buy high temp engine primer and high temp engine paint. Clean the area you want to paint, add three coats of primer then 3 coats of paint. The reverse the steps.
You can reseal with clear silcone or oem sealant. Nissan sell the head light sealant separately. I believe i posted link on my tsx thread.
