C class VS Bmw pretty funny IMO
so i got bored and checked out the w203 forum then i ran across this post that kept me going all night. I thought it was funny i had to share it with you guys. minor editting was donne to give background information.
im glad i dont have that problem
you are driving around in your 2005 C350 and A BMW 328i pulls next to you and you say, check this out to your buddy.
You know you can take the 328i because you have beat many before. Light hits green you go at it and you say "WTF is wrong with my car" then you see the 335i badge and and the once 328i is now a 335i and has you by 4 -6 cars you look like a total idiot in front of your friend.

I almost bought one but the I couldn't find any good ones for under 40k at the time so I bought my c55. Now a C55 can be had for around 20k and a 07 335i with low miles can be had for under 30k

As mentioned by RL, don't underestimate the 335.

335s are always a fun race; stock they are an easy kill.... but every so often theres the modded ones... ah-oh!
IMO all those people with the JB3s and other tunes... say bye bye motor over the long run...

IMHO
Modded 335i are not reliable. I heard a lot of negative things about them from various tuner shops. I know of two currently getting put back to stock because they need warranty work as a result of beating the p*ss out these cars.
BTW I ran a v chipped coupe at the track.
We were dead even but i beat him by .01 seconds at the end of 1/8 mile

There putting down around 400whp with dp, intercooler and jb box. The motor is fine, its the fuel pump thats weak. Those things break like there made out of glass. The non sports package ones don't even have oil coolers. I thought that was insane not to have a oil cooler for a turboed car.
I'm looking into getting one in the future. I like the weight distribution and power potential better.

i've pulled on a modded one.....but not sure what tune he was running.
i also saw one put down like 380 or 390 whp at dynocomp on the dynodynamics.....which is like 20-30 more than me (i put down around 360 last time)! not sure what the tq was for the 335i, but i'm sure it was up there.
the guy definitely had a piggyback tune, full exhaust (downpipe, catback) and i think an uprgraded fmic. definitely had the oil cooler (you need to have them out here in az) and intake. had a nice little trunk lip too!

Aston Martin V8 Vantage
personally, i wouldn't buy a bmw anyways. my last car was a 2001 bmw x5 4.4 and it was a cool looking car, just not reliable at all! 335's are cool, but they can't take half the abuse my c55 would. and mine looks a whole lot better too!

The older versions without oil coolers go into limp mode all the time. Today at the track a 335i was throwing codes left and right and even my buddy's 335i WITH oil coolers went into limp mode once for getting too hot, and it was only 75 degrees out here today...which is EFFING NICE for march!
The 335i's as great but they are need cooling and fuel pump upgrades to be a good track car. The e46's today had no problems as well as a e36 that was piloted by a VERY good driver.

yeah I know there selling aftermarket oil coolers and there some doing some R & D on aftermarket fuel pumps. I'm glad ours are so robust. But i found a few 335i's in the 25k range with cpo which seems very tempting.
I'll probably get one in another yr or two when there in the 20k range. I like the 51/49 front rear weight distribution over our 55/45 since i like the twisties more then drags.

But the 335i is a great platform if you're willing to turn some wrenches and buy an extended warranty or CPO.

You know to be honest the 335i's didn't fare so well today at the track but the 135i did a better job because it was more nimble. Then again, this was the mini track at Pacific Raceways where the fastest I got up to was a little over 80 in 3rd gear in the straights; compared to the full size track where you can easily open up in 4th.

you should get some vids of your track days.
