Anyone else's star fall of their engine cover?

I mentioned it on here a while back, but a couple months ago my star fell of the engine cover, got shot around in the engine compartment by the belts like a ninja star, and lodged behind my fog lights.

The cover itself is fine, just needs a star to go where the old one was. Has anyone experienced this and found a solution? I'd rather not shell out the money for a new engine cover, but will if i have to.

star is gone....i took off the cover....and now with my intake setup, it no longer fits. call me crazy, but i think taking it off might lower temps JUST a smidgeon lol.

as far as fixing it, i was told by the stealership you cannot buy the star piece separately....so can't help ya there.

Mine literalybroke into five peices while I was running a microfiber over the engine bay.....
Maybe there is a round AMG badge on eBay that will fit???

I thought maybe the best solution would be to get some cf...then I realized all the cf covers do not include the star..lol

I like the idea, just went out and measured. Hole where star used to be is 75mm, largest AMG badge i could find on eBay is 62mm.

Yeah, mine is on the verge of falling off as well. I guess after almost 12 years it's served its purpose. They should have a recall on this, lol.

Here it is just laying on the cover...

I will glue it on once I paint the cover black. The supplied adhesive will not work. Probably require a two part adhesive on the very edge of the badge and a clamp or two to get it to sit flush.

That looks very nice. I might do the same thing. Please post pics of the finished product. Thanks.

I have a couple extra stars from random engine covers I've aquired if anybody wants them. One is probably perfect and the other has a couple broken pegs, but the star is in good shape.

I need a star with the circle for my engine cover. Shoot me a pm or email -- happy to cover shipping, etc.
