AMG C32 or C55
Good day everyone,
Just like Chris who bought his first C32 I posted some messages on BenzWorld and got no reply at all. Unfortunate, I remember that it was an active forum a few years ago.
Anyway, just sold my 190e and now thinking about one of the two AMG mentionned above.
Is there a comparaison chart somewhere?
Anyone care to venture an opinion about the differences good and bad of the two models?
I am thinking 2004, is there big differences between model years? Any 'preferred' year I sould look for?

The only other thing not listed in that thread is that the C55 has a differential cooler on the rear axle that the C32 does not have, which helps cool the differential during hard driving.

I can't comment too much on the C55 other than I test drove one and really liked it. However, for my C32 I am blown away by the fun I've had in it since purchasing it last weekend. My recommendation would be to test drive each one as best you can and get the best value deal with the lowest mileage.
I just got my smoked side markers in the mail today and can't wait for the new grill I ordered. Should be diving into performance mods after my trip to Florida next month. Got a quote on a custom exhaust today and will be ordering pulley's and headers soon.
I'm hooked and I love it.

I might be stating what has been said but the most important part is the reliability. I have almost 100k on my car with no major issues. C32 are prone to glycol contamination S/C clutches breaking seat module problems radiators pulleys IC Pump failures and a few other things I cant think of. Also the C55 has an upgraded MHI phone system better command nicer steering wheel and instrument cluster and comes with 18" AMG wheels quad exhaust.

This will sound like there is bias since I own a C55, but really it's not. One of the reasons I bought a C55 is because it has a proven V8 that is nearly bulletproof and doesn't have the complexity to get its power. The C32 is a great car but the list of issues is pretty long......radiators, IC pumps, SC bearings, IAT sensors, leaking intercoolers, etc. etc. Now there will be some members who have never had a problem, but if you just look at the posts, it comes clear pretty quick. Some will say "well the C32 cars are older and so you should expect more failures due to age." OK, so since we can't turn back the hands of time that's not a plus either. If you are good with wrenches and feel it makes you closer to your car to work on them and fix things, then the C32 cars are a blast. I'm 50, I still work on my own cars, but more times than not, when I roll out from underneath one I say the line from Danny Glover in Leathal Weapon "I'm gettin too old for this ****."

I've had both, and both are great cars. The C32's came stock with more toys, and mine had them all except the ski bag. I loved the C32, but there were some quirks you need to get used to. Tranny jerk was a unique "feature" and although it is a V6, the supercharger killed fuel economy. The suspension was also softer than the c55 stock which many people like. It was also more of a sleeper with the single pair of tailpipes and minimal differences from the C230 sport. The C55 has that V8 sound, a firmer suspension, and the seats with the alcantara highlights feel more luxurious than the c32. I was very lucky in that the only issue i has with my c32 is a fried starter motor in 5 years of ownership. I hope the c55 is just as reliable.
