Need help/advice removing C32 AMG ECU!!!
I am trying to remove my ECU out of my 03 C32 AMG to have it checked out. My local dealer is telling me it has gone bad and told me just to order a new one. I wanted to have a company check it out first before I went and spent over 2500. IS there a write up on how to properly remove it? Or could anyone give me some advice?
I usually work on mustangs, so the mercedes is somewhat new to me. I took off all the covers, the ECU isnt bolted down, it will move freely. I am stuck on removing the modules with the wires attached. I dont want to break anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks guys, that helps alot. My ECU is located on the driver side, back corner, right underneath the driver's side wiper blade arm. The ECU seems to not be bolted down, just sitting inside the container box firmly. Its not moving around or anything though.
Im going to try to the instructions from the PDF file that was posted. I really appreciate all the help. If anyone lives around me (in Va), I might need some help. Working on mercedes is new to me! ha ha I also have to try and remove my supercharger soon too as well. I was told by my dealer that the bearing is going out. Removing the supercharger is sure to be a challenge!
Im going to try again tomorrow to remove the ECU, I will keep you guys updated.

I'm not sure if 400+ was being sarcastic or not (helpful staff at evosport is an oxymoron), but those directions won't help.
As you said, it's in the corner on the driver's side. I've done this several times myself, and I'm a complete idiot, so it's really not too hard.
For the most part, all you do is loosen the clamps on the plastic cover like you've already done, then just start unplugging the sh*t that's attached until the unit can be removed. I think your biggest problem is getting over your fear of *******g something up.

Did you send it somewhere for a tune and have you checked to make sure there are no bent pins?

Well I was gone for a few days, the car sat. I came home, started it up and the "ESP, visit workshop" message was flashing on the dash screen. The car was idling extremely high and in some cases up to 4500-5000rps unless i shifted it into drive or just shut the car off.
When I put the car into drive, it would just sputter really bad and not go over 10mph.
I took it to the local mercedes dealer. That hooked up the plugger to see what kind of codes it was throwing.
The code he read back to me was a engine control unit code, he stated that the ecu was causing or regulating too many volts and it was killing the car's performance, etc etc. End result, the tech told me I needed to buy a new ecu asap. (Im pretty lost when it comes to these cars) Pulled the ecu today to send it off to a company in florida to have it checked out. I have never had the car tuned or messed with the ecu prior to this situation. Unless the previous owner did so.
And thats where im at now with the whole situation. Any thoughts?

The pics from the instructions you sent were for the wrong car or atleast the wrong engine bay. My ecu is on the driver side, that one was for the passenger side, so I dunno. But regardless it still helped me from what I was trying to do and it worked!! . I appreciate the help man.

The company I am most likely going to go with this company.
www.enginecontrolunits.com
I spoke with the guy on the phone, seemed pretty knowlegeable about mercedes ECUs and how they work. $500 (if its fixable) and a three-four day turn around.
