Question about taking apart my headlight.

Just bought my C32 yesterday in Vegas from aho and came across one problem with the drivers side headlight.

The little housing for the bulb detached itself inside the headlight.

So, I figured I either have 2 options.

1. Take the headlight out and see if I can take the bulb out and finger the housing back and clip it in (easy way)

2. Take the headlight out, take it apart and then clip it back in.(Hard)

I just am unsure how it works taking a headlight apart, as I dont want to get water inside or anything like that.

I was just curious if anyone knew Id be able to do option 1 for sure, and if not... Would I have to seal the headlight with something, and what would I have to use?

I have to drive the car back to Michigan from Los Angeles Friday or Saturday, so i'm hoping to get this done either today or tomorrow.

Here is what the problem looks like :

Thanks- Mike

I really don't know, but i'd say you'll have to take it apart. Even if you could "finger" it back on, it would probably fall off again. Hopefully you get it taken care of for the ride back. Goodluck.

I think you have to throw it in the oven. Do not do this without confirmation though

yeah, you just need to warm up the glue a bit and then it will come apart, as for temperature, no idea.

I just put the headlight back in and im gonna take care of it when I get back to Michigan.

that ring is gonna scratch the hell outta my housing thoug, which sucks. But I dont have time or patience right now to take it back apart and do the baking and ****.

But thanks, ill let everyone know how it goes, and I should have a carbon lip and some wheels on her in the next month or so, so stay tuned!

You can open it up using a heat gun or baking it in the oven, with the bulbs removed of course. I would jb weld the shroud to the projector. Then you can seal it with clear silicon or nissan oem head light sealant. Its recommended you use the nissan sealant since its the same stuff mercedes uses, just nissan sells it as a separate part.

You can find the link to the nissan sealant on my tsx retro thread.

Ya, I got the headlight out and everything, but didnt trust myself putting the headlight in the oven w/ no experience doing so, and I dont have a heat gun here.

When I put the headlight back in, I couldnt get it aligned for ****, the bolt closest to the bumper lined up fine, but the headlight wouldnt sit flush when I had the top bolt lined up. so like I said, ill deal with it when I get home. The ring doesnt block the light hardly at all, so its still safe, just worried about it scratching the housing....
oh well.
