Oil light keeps coming on...

Oil light keeps coming on...
Anyone have this problem on 05 C55? Is it normal for these cars to drink oil or has there been issues with the sensors?

Pull off the intake airbox and look at the valve covers, you might have excess leakeage coming from the seals.

If it was leaking enough to cause the light to come on wouldn't there be oil underneath?? It doesn't appear to be leaking but I guess what you're suggesting could be it.

I mean, have you added any since seeing the light come on?

I do 6 mo. intervals, and the last oil change I was 1.5 qt low, but 5 mo's into this one I haven't lost any, so idk.

i change mine every 5k miles, and i have to add 1 or 2 quarts in between. not enuf to trip the light, but I check the oil when I get gas and top it off if it needs more than 1 quart.

1 qt was added last week and the light came on again today 2 1/2 hrs into a 3 hr drive

that sounds unusual. did you verify that it lost that oil? try using a real dipstick (the tube is on the back of the motor with a red cap on it) the dealer may let you borrow a dipstick to check the oil level if the sensor is gone bad.

This is what I am thinking. I don't have the car anymore, sold it to the woman's best friend a couple months ago, so I don't know exactly what's happening. The light did come on a few times while we had it and it seemed not right. Just thought I'd try and figure something out to tell them. It had the B service done 3 or so months ago btw.

There is no oil smell, leak puddles or anything. I'm leaning towards a faulty sensor.
