It's one thing after another...

I'm beginning to hate this car more and more. Well actually, I love the car and just hate my addiction to it. With any other car, I would have been rid of it already, but with the C32 I keep telling myself this will be the last thing.

Anyway, my exhaust got uber loud the other day. I was hoping it was the flanges behind the secondary cats, of course that's too cheap. I took it too an exhaust shop and they showed me that the left secondary completely blew out. I took the car to a few shops seeing if they would cut the secondaries off and fabricate a Y pipe, but no one has been willing to do it. They all give me a raft of bull**** as to why they aren't willing.

So, It looks like I have to buy a new left cat / pipe. I found some OEM one's on Ebay for about half the price (even cheaper than parts.com). I was just wondering if this was in fact the right part. I did a little research and it seems to be, but I just wanted to get your guy's input. Thanks for reading this long post. I just needed to vent.

Chris,
The ebay link doesn't work. Also, why do you need to fabricate a new Y pipe in order to cut out the secondary cats? I reused mine when I removed my secondary cats. Just get some t304 pipes in place of the cats and have them welded into place. Unless that's what you call "fabricate".

I got the idea that the piping wasn't as much a problem as them not wanting to remove the cats. One guy even tried to tell me that he would get in trouble if I ever got "caught". I laughed and asked if the catalytic converter cops were big in the area.

That's a good idea, unfortunately the cat is completely blown out. Someone would have to do some serious welding to make it remotely airtight.

It's part # A 203-490-32-19

Now I'm a little confused because all the prices and pictures are different on this guy's auctions.

mb recently started offering reman cats, there is a part# for yours, but they are not available yet. I have seen them ranging around $300 now which is a huge decrease in price. I am not sure why they don't have them out for your car yet, possibly because they are rare. I would just keep looking for another shop to do it google it or find out where other people go in that area. I wouldnt be suprised if people do not want to do it because the EPA is harsh! When I did mine the guy that did it noted on the invoice that he was installing cats not removing them.

Chris,

I have two brand new magnaflow hi-flow cats that I believe are compatible. Shoot me an email if you are interested, and I'll dig them up, send you pic and figure out a fair price. I also have a brand new magnaflow glass pack (to use in lieu of the resanator) that I never used, if anyone is interested.

Chris,
If you want to come to north NJ, I can hook you up with the place where I removed mine. I'm running just fine without the secondaries.

Thanks, Robert. I don't know if I can make it there for this, but I would definitely like to know the shop info in case I need a competent exhaust shop in the future.
