2002 C32 1987 190E 2.3 334K miles and going
H&R OE Sport Springs but, I wouldn't know the diff since I've never had to put on Renntechs.
I know the HR OE Sport Springs are slightly stiffer than OEMs obviously but the
Sport Spring set is even more stiffer per their specs.

I went with Vogtland. They keep the correct stance while lowering and you don't need to mess with the pads. Keeps the stock ride quality as well.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
Can you go just springs (shocks not necessary right? Searching shows both answers)?

Is there a Vogtland retailer that you recommend?

Yeah you can just replace springs leaving the rest stock as I did no problem. I ordered mine straight from them. http://tinyurl.com/p3xej6

that actually doesnt look bad at all, so you have #4 spring pads on the rear? BTW, are you on 19s when this pic was taken?

Suspension install place is saying I shouldn't do just springs, "you can crack wheels easier and you will destroy the shocks much sooner."

i had lowering springs with the stock shocks on my old luxury c320 ( soft suspension). You can tell form my sig on 18s, i got a decent drop for just springs. BUT if they are more aggressive ( stiffer, lower ) springs than the stockies, you will definitely wear out your stock shocks much more quickly.. i think it took me a month or 2 before i felt like i had no shocks.

You dont NEED to get upgrade shocks right away, but def will soon.

btw i will post picks of my 32 once i get my coilovers on.

Plug and play - springs only, no messing around with pads. Here's a pick with the stock 17s:

As for long term - I never had any issues. I see the guy who purchased my C32 driving around every so often and the car looks fine..

I just installed Renntech shocks and springs on my car and I really like them. Rides very close to stock but is still much better in the curves. Best of all my alignment is still all in the green! Should look similar on a C32:
