tire wear

I searched for a little but couldn't find any good info. So I am asking how many miles everyone is getting out of their tires.

With my stock 18s the rears were gone in around 3000 and since they are staggered and you can't rotate them i decided to purchase 17s. but before I could even get the chance to rotate the tires my rears are already looking bald and once again its been only around 3 to 4000 miles. I never do brake stands and only chirp the tires every once in a while.

any ideas? i just got my alignment checked out and it is perfect.

I used to get 7K to 9K with the Michelin Pilots, and 10K to 12K with Kumho ASX. Close to double this for the fronts. I suspect the Chicago winters killed the Pilots faster than in a warmer climate.

I drove the c32 lightly though, with occasional 60mph sprints.

Our cars suspension makes the rear wheels sit with a bit of negative camber to improve corner handling, so a little bit of inside wear is expected.

I'm using Toyos proxes on my stock 17". I've had them about six months now and they're still good. Before these though I had some goodyears that only lasted a few months.. Sticking with the Toyos. My advice try different brands and see which one best fits your driving. Some Pirellis of course are higher performance tires that will wear faster because they grips the road better.

Most cars run the wrong tire pressure. The wrong pressure will cause the tires to wear out in no time AND reduce grip dramatically. For maximum tire life, "I" can't use the sticker in the fuel tank door, and "I" can't use anyone else's recommendation. Maybe others can, but I know "I" can't. Ages ago I bought a Raytek infrared pyrometer and it's paid for itself several times over. This page will give you some info. The main thing you want is to have the center of the tire average between the inner and the outer of the tread. IR pyrometers are under $50, will last forever, and ANYONE can use one.

My vote is the tires you're using as the tire wear issue.

Im on my second (rear) set of T1Rs; first set lasted 13K. I go on canyon drives atleast once a month and drive spiritedly during the remainder. So im happy with that mileage.
