spark plug replacement..

Okay, just a follow up from my other posts.

From the beginning:

car ran fine, smooth and had no problems at all. idler on the waterpump seized. Car never overheated. I replaced the waterpump and added a pulley saver kit.. along with a new Behr radiator.

The car sat for 3 months and battery died over that time. Looked to be the original battery and didn't seem to wanna charge back up. So i went ahead and got a battery and had roadside install it.

Car still just cranks and cranks. Sometimes it'll fire up.. but it'll run rough and just shut off.

I can hear the fuel pump when its "ON". I'm not throwing any codes.

CPS sensor was replaced last year and i don't think thats the problem really.

Maybe a MAP sensor?

On to the spark plugs.. is there any DIY on spark plug removal?

Figure i would pull the plugs and check them, maybe they're fouled for some reason car has 67k on it..

Passenger side valve cover has oil around it. At first i figure no biggie.. just get a new gasket. BUT.. could this be a sign of it overheating? oil in the cylinders?

I never overheated this engine. It was taken to a dealership before i got it back home. If there is any signs i should look for if it was, i would appreciate it. I didn't overheat it, if that is the case, then somebody else did it (dealership)

It's now been sitting for 4 months, same gas. I understand gas does go bad, but i would think it would still run halfway decent.

you can tighten the bolts on the valve covers first. Some times they loosen over time and leak. I would check the wires and coil pack. The oil from the valve cover leaked into the wires near the coil packs. I was able to clean it off before it caused any shorts.

I had a lot misfires with MAG wires. I would recommend keeping stock wires.

If you want mag wires, I'll sell you mine for half off. I only used them for 100miles.

I've got the KV8.5 on my C55 they work just fine. The first set I had on my C43 and then transferred to my C55 developed a problem in two of the wires. I just replaced all of them after 4 years.

so what benefits do u exactly get with getting magnecor wires when replacing spark plugs vs just sticking with the stock wires???

I kind of just wrote it off as preventative maintenance, but the Magnecor's are supposedly very durable plug wires. Along with additional electromagnetic shielding.

i thought it was just cost? they were a lot cheaper then oem, but i found a set on ebay for cheap so it kinda negates the benefits.

Given that we're a two-plug-per-cylinder design, everything I've heard and read is that the OEM system has more than enough capability even with modded motors... no real advantage to be gained AFAIK. The only caveat is if you need/want to go to a step colder plug, you'd use an aftermarket option like Denso Ir or NGK IX, otherwise stock should suffice.
