First experience with a Police officer!
So I was heading north on I-75 from Sarasota, FL last night it had been raining hard to so I had my my fog lights, front and rear on. Just before the I-275 interchange to head over to St. Pete I saw the blues flashing. I was doing 76 in a 70(speedo and multifunction center display said 76) He told me I was doing 81. Since I have the Mandrus wheels with the 265/35/18s I thought maybe my speedo was off but I wouldn't think it would be off by that much. He told me the main reason he pulled me over was because I had a faulty brake light. He said it was stuck on. So i tried to explain that it was my rear foglight and I had it on for the rain and forgot to turn it off after it cleared up. Even after explaining it to him and showing him how it worked he still didn't get it. He was a nice guy didn't give me a ticket for speeding since I had just purchased the car, and didn't know I was going more than 5-6 mph over. But he gave me a Warning, stating that I needed to get my faulty brake light fixed! So today I downloaded a GPS speedo app on my EVO to verify speed. when my speedo and center display said I was doing 76 so did the GPS. I think he just wanted to get a closer look at the car.
Anyway thought you guys would enjoy the faulty brake light. I have owned alot of cars with a rear fog and this is the first time I ever got pulled over for it, anyone else ever get pulled for it.

I had a Porsche engineer explain why they only do one fog light in the rear when I was with my dad for Euro delivery of his 1997 911 Turbo S. being the inquisitive type I asked why it only had one. He told me that most Euro countries have laws require a single rear fog on the driver's side. The reason it is the driver's side is so that if someone comes up from behind they know the laws and know it is not a brake light if their were 2 it could be considered brake lights and cause someone to slam on their brakes. And they know which side the driver is on. something about crash avoidance and what not.

when you pull for the fogs the first detent is the front fog lights and the second detent is the rear. you will notice 2 lights, green is front and amber is rear.

Rear Fogs are standard on every car in the UK and i would assume Europe as well.
Even japanese cars like the RX7 in the UK has two rear fogs next to the license plate.
My Dads XJ12 has both rear fog lights on the bottom of the rear bumper, they looked like reflectors and their only purpose was for a fog light.

Rear fogs are standard in Israel also, not that we get much fog.

Also Fog light are only for poor visibility, in the UK its against the law to use them unless your visibility is less than 100m (328feet). I used to live in the UK and let me tell you its very distracting to follow a car in the rain with rear fog light/s on. They are bright and in the rain they cause glare and reflect off the road surface. So if you do use you fog light in the rain please turn it off if some one is following you.

I turned it on because it was raining so hard that you could only see about 25 feet in front of you. So I would call that poor visibility.
I just forgot to turn off after the weather cleared.

Yeh i've had this issue before. But saying something like "oh sorry officer, you misunderstood. That my car has a specialized rear foglight designed for German cars driving on the autobahn because of heavy fog so that oncomers know where the left side of the car is" isnt going to get you very far. It sounds pretentious. And if you get pulled in a German car the last thing you want to bring up is the autobahn.
So I just asked if I could see what he was talking about, turned the fog off, then walked back and there was nothing there.
