I don't see that happening...
on E-class, S-class and all AMG anytime soon.
currently is only on the C-class coupe with 4-pots and not in US mkt either.
The reviews I saw from foreign magz are not too good..people rather have the stickshift. It's also not as good as the SMG II.

So is it more like making a manual like an automatic (SMG) or is it like making an automatic into a manual (steptronic, etc...)?
Are the shifts worse than with Sequentronic or better compared to shifting with the current C32?

It's a manual without...
a clutch paddle. Just like SMG II from BMW. It's also a 6sp not like most of MB's 5sp Auto. They are comparing to SMG II and MB's doesn't shift as smooth as BMW's in either Auto mode or manuel mode when the car at slower speed. When the car is in a higher speed, the shifting become really smooth.
One thing is good, that is down shifting...perfect down shift every single time.
Up hill has the most complain. The car will roll backward if not enough gas is apply...need left foot breaking on the steep uphill.

C32 AMG
I saw it on a 2003 CLK55 AMG while getting my car serviced. Came really close to trading my car in. Thank God they didn't have a silver/charcoal with navi or I would have left this forum two weeks ago!!!

I drove both C32 and M3 with SMGII.
For daily use give the C32 trany anytime, smooth and fast.
For agressive driving give me the SMGII. In 'slow' shift mode the SMGII feels really slow and not smooth.
2 cents (euro's haha)

when you test drove the M3...did it seem like there was a lot of time between the gear changes?
maybe there was something wrong with the m3 i drove, but i didnt feel as much power and the handling wasnt as good as the c32...but maybe it was just me

Yes there was a lot of time between the gear changes. It was like a slow manual shift. Mind you that there are 5 or 6 modes to choose from and we where is a 'slow' gear shift mode and driving normally.
After changing to 'fast' mode the gear shift were very fast, but not as smooth as the C32. We did not test the 'launch' mode because the BMW mech said that using this mode in WOT often would wear out the tranny parts very quickly.

i test drove the euro version m3, and it does feel a lot better than the us c32. the handling is done much better, it's probably because the ride height is different in us, and b/c of the road conditions, the roads are a lot worse here(us).
