About to install a Quaife LSD in an '02... Quick question

Is there something different about installing an LSD on a 2002?

I've seen a few referrences about how it is somehow different to install an LSD on an 02 compared to later model C32s and C55s.

Anyone know more about this?

I remember some thing about having to use different axles. There are two types, the push in and I think clip ins. There was also some sort of mention of being able to use clips from a gm differential, but I don't quite remember the details.

I'll have to get the saved info that I have on my other computer.

If anyone else has info on this, please let me know. I have only thus weekend to do the work, so if I need more parts or I'm lacking some pertinent piece of info, then I'm screwed.

I've been doing a lot of searching, without much luck

What is the model of your LSD?
When I installed mine (2+ years ago), I had a leak from one side and had to get a later version of the axles. But I hear that Quaife changed things and the QDF7V should fit all axle types now vs. only the push-in version of the axle. Maybe someone with a more resent install will comment.

If you have a car lift at home and the right tools, then you can DIY. Otherwise take it to a shop. It should be about 4-6 hours in the shop. At home -

The Quaife diff only comes with the carrier right? The gears have to be all setup again, right? Does the Quaife come with shims (if needed?)?

Can anyone chime in on a recent 02 quaife install? Is the QDF7V for only one axle type? Or is there an updated QDF7V?

Yeah +1. I'm most likely getting the QDF7V and I want to make sure it will be problem free.

I heard they updated it but then again I'm not sure.

Quaife sort of brushed me off; a sales guy whom obviously didnt read the query completely.(have resent another mail to Quaife basically asking the same thing) They did however advise me to contact these guys in the UK: http://www.birdsauto.com/quaife/sear...01&mi=C+32+AMG

They have two kits for the 32. Have sent them an email aswell. Wait and see,

Model code Description Application Retail Price:
203 Quaife Merc. Limited Slip Diff. Kit C 32 AMG, Final Drive with Output Flange
203 Quaife Merc. Limited Slip Diff. Kit C 32 AMG, Final Drive with Plug-in driveshafts
