steering wheel button shift delete

Anyone know a nice way to delete these buttons off the back of the steering wheel?
Both me and the wife are tired of hitting them by accident.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Rick =)

You could try unplugging them, not sure if it will throw an error code though.

Yeah, when I first bought the car 5 years ago, I also found that the shift buttons can easily be pushed by accident when driving and turning the steering wheel. After that, I just adjusted my grip on the steering wheel and it never happens to me anymore. Obviously, you have to be mentally aware of where those buttons are when turning the steering wheel.

An alternative is to modify by replacing the shift buttons with shift paddles which come with the newer AMG vehicles (in fact, Merc/AMG did that for the 2007 C55 (not sold in N. America)).

I replaced them with the cls/ Mexico only c55 AMG aluminum paddles like all the new AMG'S have. I never have the problem anymore. It's a somewhat scary and time consuming mod those as you have to dremel the wheel. See my post about it years ago.

I think it would require you to take off the steering wheel, but it can be done.
