i would upgrade your heat exchanger as well. You'll get heat soak quickly running that much boost.

+1....also might want to down the road change the plugs and go a step colder and alter the gap to like .034 (IIRC) to adjust for the increased boost/power....though i would do heat exchanger first

One more for the Heat Exchanger. And the CM30 pump.

Thanks for the fast answers!

I have 3 fast questions i hope you can answer

1.Instead of the heat exchanger, iam thinking of getting an I/C Reservoir, can that help me get down the temperature instead?

2.The icpump is exchanged 2 years ago at MB, not for a johnson tho but will that make any difference?

3. Is it worth the "bang for the buck" this package, will i feel much more boost?

Thanks !!

yes you need a larger heat exchanger. Getting a larger reservoir will only increase the volume of fluid but not increase the cooling surface.

Thanks for the answer!

What i mean is to separate the I/C cooling and engine cooling, wich will result in lower temperature on the I/C water, because it dosnt use the same hot water as the enginge.?( Right? )

or am i totaly out of line?

it will make it cooler but not as much as a upgraded heat exchanger. Just think about it this way...what will put out the fire faster. The spray bottle full of water or a hose shooting out water.

Question

The kit is now ordered

When its installed, i will separate the I/C cooling at first and buy Greencotton replacement filters and i would be good for 400hp ,right?

No, you won't be at 400 HP. Probably more like 320-340. It takes A LOT to get to 400 HP and a 181 and tune ain't gonna do it!! Note that the HE also will not give you more HP, it will simply allow your car to run "cooler" (thereby making more HP over a longer period of time and preventing heat soak ) .

I am not sure about the specs on 181 pulley, but I have heard that the it's boosting at 20 psi max? I think stock pulley is 14.5 psi max. One psi roughly equals 10whp if I am not mistaken. So, you should definitely feel a better "kick" with pulley and tune.

Mine was a lot stronger after 185 (22 psi?). It was unbearable for two weeks though, due to the fact that I didn't send the ECU right away. So I had to stay under 4500 RPM. But, after the tune, it felt like a completely different animal (especially when it's cold and not heatsoaked, which happens after a lot when you run 185).

I have heard unfavorable things about Green filters. I would just do drop in K&Ns ($70ish) and Code 3 Intake (DIY) for under $20 (If you're into SC whine, you will love it when you take off the weather stripping). C3P intake is also not so obnoxious when you put the weather stripping back on.

Oh yea, perhaps do a before (baseline) dyno and after to verify the improvement.

Newzchspy: When i say 400hp i mean HP not WHP ( Engine ).

ddtham: Thanks for the info, i hope the seperation of the I/C cooling will help me with the heatsoaking,
Do you have any tips "building" an cod3 intake? would apreciate it!

I even doubt that high, A tune and pulley may get you 40 Crank HP so it'll be close, BUT I am much more concerned about RWHP than crank. The point is, when I did my EC tune and C3P pulley, I was happy as a clam. I really don't put as much credence into dyno runs as much as I do qtr mile runs.

Now, if you're talking about 400 RWHP, then you need to speak to Jake at EC because his car was doing about that rear wheel (but that was with a LOT of tuning and mods). I also believe that Jake's old car has gone close or into the 11s as well.

SL 55 intake or C3P one from HP Auto werks?? Its a 10 minute job with a few hose clamps and a screwdriver. I run the C3P one which is still for sale and love the "whine" it provides. Brandon used to claim 6 HP dyno gain on it, BUT that could be run differences on the dyno too. Probably more for sound than anything.

10 Minute DIY, just don't break off the bottom clip like I did when removing the existing unit from near the center firewall. There's a top and bottom plastic clip about 2 inches long each, only the top front is visible. Once removed, the C3Pinstall is easy. I have no picts of the DIY. HPautowerks has the units for sale.

Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, but it seems like Gramma already gave you the link. That was the exact same DIY that I did.

Remember to try and find a filter material that doesn't disintegrate easily to ensure that your SC is clean of debris from the filter material itself. I doubled the filter material just to be safe. Just FYI, I played around with using single layer filter vs. double, and the SC sucking in air sound is way louder with single layer.

The biggest pain of the DIY is cutting the endplate off the bracket. Everything else was easy and trust me, you will love the sound of the SC sucking in air like a vacuum cleaner. Just remember to clean it once in a while Oh and also don't forget to take off your rubber weather stripping to ensure maximum SC loudness! It's even louder now with 185 pulley, because of the SC engaging sooner.

Have fun!

you should be able to hit little over 400hp crank with those mods. I hit basically 400hp crank with the code3 pulley and it runs less boost then the 181 pulley.

Thanks for the answers mates!

What type of filter did you use ddtham? and last but not least, where is "Rubber weather stripping" located that you are talking about?
