Price of your c55.
Hello, ive been lurking around these forums for well over 6 months now as ive been looking to buy my first benz, a c55 I just have a simple question for all of you fellow AMGer's: when did you get your c55 amg? For how much? And with how many miles? All replies will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yep, im in Brooklyn. Throw me a pm on the info, i might be pretty interested. Ive been seeing some c55's at the auctions being sold for 16k with about 80,000 miles so im just seeing how realistic the price really is. Duke444, was it a private sale?

These cars have taken a financial hit recently but there are very nice ones to be had with low mileage and a warranty. You get what you pay for!
Good luck!

I think the 06 has a higher demand since there are less out there.
I recently bought an 06 with about 14,600 CPO + the factory warranty until April of 2011. I paid $28,375-ish. I seen some people selling some nice C55's on here for much cheaper. I like having a little more of a warranty though.
I traded in a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 that I took a nice hit on, but whatever. It's only money. I'll just go make more of it. Although I think I might need a 3rd job to push me into the six figures and allow me to feed my car addiction.
On a side note, I think the C55 owners will dictate the value of the vehicle. We have to keep in mind that they are rare. The thing I especially like about my C55 is that I haven't seen another one around my area. I did see several new Speed3 running around, but still have yet to spot another C55.
I have to admit too, I do feel a little more cocky driving this car. Its a nice ego booster.

Bingo! Spot on! These cars are getting more and more rare as they get modded to death and crashed. Nice cars that are reasonably stock will sooner or later stablize in price and may even begin to tick up as the time goes on.

My honest opinion is that this information really isn't relevant. When buying a car, the only things you have to compare for price vs. features, mileage, distance, etc, are the cars that are on the market at the time you're looking to buy.

I think it is also worth looking at how rare a vehicle is though. When I was returning the Audi A4 loaner, I noticed 3 other newer (09+) ones right next to me.
I feel like driving my C55, I am making a statement that I am different. I have a vehicle that not too many people have. The group of owners will end up dictating the market price on these cars. If none of us would sell our cars for let's say under $30,000 anyone that would want to get this unique car, would have to pony up the dough.
I do wish the body was a little more distinguished as an AMG. Looks too much like the regular C class in my opinion. Maybe a front lip spoiler, BBS or HRE wheels, and a couple other carbon fiber goodies will help set this apart from some of the other C class cars I've seen running around my area.

C32/C55 AMG
I was thinking that being rare that it would retain it's value, but by looking at previous C class AMG's, such as the C43 and C36, I think that the value will not stabilize or increase for maybe 2+ decades.

2006 C55 AMG White/Ash
I paid $26k for my 2006 with 28k miles, but that was one year ago. I just love my car, it looks, feels, smells, and drives like brand new. I mean that, I can't tell it from new, it's stone stock and it makes me smile when I see it or drive it. If I were to buy something right now brand new for $26k I guess I could have a 2010 Camry XLE with wood grain style trim. Forget that, I would rather walk.

Was having this exact discussion today...
...with my coworker as we drove to lunch enjoying this cool-early Fall day with the top down in his 2008 Viper SRT-10. We were discussing the rarity of the Viper and I mentioned how since I purchased my C55 three months ago, I have yet to see another C55 on the road. I have run with one C32 and have seen in passing two C63s. And I live in Northern VA which is a hot bed of luxury and sport cars!
I was mentioning how when you drive a specific niche car you are always on the look out for other comparable cars. I think its safe to say that in our case those are predominantly the M3 and S4. How many M3s do I see in a given week? Approximately 5-10. S-4s? Maybe 1-5. As previously stated - C55s? Nada.
As previously mentioned by another forum member, driving the C55 does make a statement about the driver. In my case I believe it conveys several things:
a) I am a car enthusiast and enjoy driving/fine autos
b) I don't want to run with the rest of the pack (otherwise I would have bought a Camry, or even worse an M3 -totally kidding about the M3 part they are amazing machines)
c) I am practical enough to buy a four door (albeit an expensive four door with a gas-sucking V8)
I believe that points A-C are most likely common ideals that can be found in many C55/C32 owners.

+1 and bump for good logic. In Chicago, I see at least 2-3 M3 s a day and probably as many M5s. The rare one is the Alpina that just came out. Some guy has a black one in the burbs and its a nice car.
I only get a glimpse of a C55 once every few months if I am lucky and even more rarely, a C32 (although there are a LOT of C230s and C320s badged as AMGs) . Lots of SL63/55 running around BUT very few 65s. Saw one BS 65 about a month ago I was WOWed by that car!! Tons of Bentleys/Maseratis running around too, at least 2-3 a day. Lots of Ferraris on weekends only. I probably see more Vipers than I do 32/55. Pretty common on summer and fall weekends.

I know exactly what you guys mean. I have seen several M3's in my area, a few vipers too. Still no other C55 or even a C32 around here.
I love the M3, but I prefer the unique factor. Makes me feel cooler.
+1 for the snooty factor
And unlike some of the fancy/fast sports cars, I can get a wheelchair in the back of car or play DD when we go out with some of our friends.
If I needed to overcompensate for something, I would get a two seater sports car.
Speaking of that, I can't wait until I get my student loans paid down and buy a house with a garage so I can buy an SL55 or something similar as a play car.

Its as easy as 1, 2, 3!!!
I guess the consensus is that the "rarity of the AMG C Classes makes them keepers. (the M3s are not near as rare as they allot about 5% of their 3 class production to M cars, which equates to over 5,000 a year in America). Its probably closer to 2-3000 M3 units BUt that's still 10 times what our cars are produced.
One other thing, I sometimes troll the BMW forums and am surprised as to how many of them KNOW about AMGs and many fear them as well. It seems to be a never-ending battle , more than anything, of the M3 versus the C32/55. That seems to be the biggie with the M5 versus the AMG E Classes a distant second in discussion. The big difference with the AMG guys is that we seem to be more attached to "reality" as to what our cars can do versus their rants of "I can beat any AMG made."
