Phenolic Spacers

A quick search of the forums resulted in little findings of information on the phenolic spacers.

One member reported a 15 degree temperature difference. Does anyone else have or know of any information on this?

I do know that the 55 engine seems to run really hot. It also seems to keep that heat in for a long time after the engine is turned off.

It reminds me of my Camaro. I'm really wanting to put some headers on there with a Jet-Hot coating. Made a huge difference on the Camaro and I bet it would make a huge difference on this beast.

[QUOTE=C55Newb121;4264558]A quick search of the forums resulted in little findings of information on the phenolic spacers.

One member reported a 15 degree temperature difference. Does anyone else have or know of any information on this? NO, it doesn't make a difference after the first few runs; Temperature equilibrium takes care of that

Yes. Thermodynamics is a b*tch. Haha.

I think we would need something a little better to dissipate the heat.

I think coming up with a way to keep the air intake temps down would be more beneficial.

Someone lined the bottom of their stock airbox with a material to deflect heat and kept the IAT of the airbox lower...I just kept my hood up at the track between runs lol.

I think I am going to just take my hood off.

wouldn't that look ghetto? a $60,000-ish Benz driving around with no hood.

Just get a larger airbox or Green filters, the phelonic spacers come with a supercharger kit usually and I got them not really sure if they are gaskets or spacers on mine.

well newz, the economy is down, but where i'm at the economy is doing pretty well. the value of the amg market will be justified by us owners and prospective buyers. if we sell cheap, people will only want to pay cheap prices.

keep looking up friend. one nice thing with these cars becoming "cheaper" too is that people will be more willing to develop some mods. i think so anyway.

I AM IN Chicago-land area!! My point was, the AMG cars, like most high perf cars , take a major hit once you drive em off the lot and then seem to stabilize. BUT then again, what car doesnt.

As fars as mods go, several of the modders we once had on here are gone. I recall LET, (now EC), HPAutowerks, Brandon (Code3) etc. As the # of cars thins due to sale/wrecked etc, you 'll see less support for the C32. The mod market has never been strong for the C55.

Well, I like to stay optimistic. It is true that the cars take a hit, but I think that's all just a dealer strategy that has been put into the minds of the general public. Its all just about the trade in vs retail values. They are in the business to make money.

Now, looking at the mod market for the 55, there is a limited supply. Why is that? My guess is that most of the people that initially bought these cars, were fine with the cars just the way they were. As they become more affordable, people are going to start looking for things to mod. The problem with modding this car is that there are not that many produced. It is a matter of being exclusive when it comes to this car.

I am going to start a new thread getting some feedback on this topic. Feel free to add to this. I am going to be biased in that the focus is the 55 (that's what I have).

try a $20 roll of header heat tape. That reduces temps from exhaust by quite a bit. A vented hood also works wonders to evacuate the heat.
