Haven't gotten it checked yet. Anyone want to place a bet on what it could be? :p
The car runs fine. No drop in mileage, SC doesn't bog down, nothing. Acts perfectly fine.

haha, Mines always on ...... Seems to be the trade off when you modded .... Mine is usally the High Output on the Mas (Meaning im maxing out the MAP/MAF Sensor in PSI) or its the secondary air pump for smog, as I have mine removed. For yours I don't think its the Sensor, It could be the airpump or Misfire. Run by a place that has the Obd2 scanner.. Should tell you right away

Funny...the one in Anaheim said they didn't do it anymore. Lying sacks of...
I'll try the one here in Lake Forest. I'll be livid if it's the MAF. Hopefully it's nothing serious, or I can clear the code long enough for the smog to go through.

Actually, that sounds like a plan. When can we meet up? I just found out that Auto Zone won't rent out the OBD2 anymore. Money grubbers...

HARBOR FREIGHT
ABOUT 10 MINUTES AWAY IN ORANGE
COSTS ABOUT 70 BUCKS you can get 20% 0ff coupons in most boating and hunting magazines
item 94169
http://www.harborfreight.com/obd-ii-...can-94169.html
obd2 scanner should be in any diy'r tool box.
Easy to use
post code when you have it.
You can't erase your cel in order to pass smog you will still fail since the code is stored as pending in the ecu and that won't fool the smog station
also when you erase codes it sets all your I/M monitors to not ready and that is also an automatic fail.

What you can do is this. Erase all codes and drive the car for a few days, hoping to NOT get another code while you're driving and then get her retested. Been around this block with the ML55.

If the issue
that caused the code is simply a gremlin like revving the engine in park and setting a p0300 code or a loose gas cap that is put back on correctly Then you are correct.
However if the op is driving around and the cel has not cleared itself after several drive cycles clearing it by erase function is not going to fix the issue and it will be cheaper to get a scanner pull the codes and fix the issue. a failed test in California and the onus it puts on the car to get passed on the second test.
Dealer charges an hour minimum for diagnostic scan or more
far cheaper to own your own scanner. And fix the problem once the code is pulled.
Gas cap issues P04** range are easily identified and ruled out.
post them when you got them

All right. Found out a friend of mine has an OBD-2. I'll have him check it out and will let you know.
On an unrelated note, my SC bearing's making noise now, so getting an NSK bearing to replace it. Any mechanic shop should have a bearing press, right?

Results: One code
P0422. My buddy has an older OBD2 scanner. Doesn't explain what the code is. Anyone know?

Convenient how I need to get SMOGGED to get my registration updated....*sigh*
So, best case it's an O2 sensor, worst case it's the cat, then? I sure hope that warranty will cover it...

It's the cat
not the o2
you make it under the 8year time limit are you under 80k miles?
some models had 100k mile limit check with the dealer
they may still balk at doing it even if you fall in the time/mile period since you have modded systems that affect the smog systems.
Cross your fingers

Eurocharged Performance ML63 and TT lambo
check that checked asap...could be bad plug or injector..
ecu will overcompensate and push more fuel if possible, but with no exhaust mods you should not get that error...
soot is indeed rich.....but I worry that it is caused by a deeper issue.
