Damn that's fast!
I assume it is not stock, what have you done? Renntech ECU & Pulley? Other stuff?

Congratulations, great time! If you could get your 60' times better you'd be a tenth or two better on the 1/4 mile

Thanks! Believe it or not, it's actually 100% stock. I'm going to go the Evosport route as soon as their SLK32 products become available. They seem to have the best handle on the 3.2L Kompressor mods.

I just got a set of drag radials for the car. I'm going back to the track this Friday. I'm hoping to pull a 1.85 60ft which should translate to a 12.5 to 12.6.

Wow, you'll be the first '32 owner that I know of to slap drag tires on it. I'll be interested to see the results.

Marc, great times. It seems SLK32s are a bit stronger than C32s - plus there is a 300 lbs. weight savings.

Our SLK32 ODPS kit is almost complete. We just need to photograph hose routing from IC to windshield washer and from windshield washer to IC radiator. If you can do it for us we will be glad to offer a price brake on the kit. Just talk to Ben@evosport.com. Thanks.

Good Luck with drags.

Nice splits! Got to love sea level racing on the coast in early spring/late fall. During MBCA events the fastest SLK32 runs a couple of tenth or two quicker(with owners wife) or dead even in the mid summer Midwest +90F heat where we have a hard time breaking 14s!

Pierre - Yep, it's a 2003. I wonder what the differences are between 2002 and 2003 models?

Dave - Yeah, I think it will be pretty cool to have drag radials on a new Mercedes! All these rice burners these days want to be "different" by putting on huge wings, obnoxiously loud tin can exhausts, etc. I'll be different in my own way by being one of a small few to drag race a Mercedes!

Arthur - Yup, there are different days of the week designated for drag racing at the local dragstrip. At Island Dragway, Friday (night) and Sunday (day) are the two street days. On these days you're more likely to see street driven cars like new Vettes, Mustangs, etc. It costs something like $20-$25 for a full day of racing! Basically, you just show up, pay at the gate, and proceed to tech inspection. Since our cars are pretty timid (when compared to what other guys run there), we breeze right through tech inspection without even popping the hood! After that, you proceed to the staging lanes which are right near the dragstrip. If you wanted to go one day I'd be happy to show you around and show you how it all works. I think everyone should go at least once just to see what it's like and see how fast their car is. The only real requirement on your part would be a valid driver's license and a helmet. If you don't want to buy a helmet, I believe you can rent one at the track for a small fee ($3 to $5). You can get more information from Island Dragway's website which is www.islanddragway.com It's an awful website, but if you surf around you might find some of the info useful. If you would like to go and meet up, just let me know. My email address is cloud9marc@yahoo.com

Good Luck with drags.
I've read on the forums repeatedly that the C32 is 300lbs heavier, but my SLK32 weighed in at just 3198 without me in it and a quarter tank of gas. In the new issue of Car & Driver, they list the "curb weight" for the 03 C32 AMG as 3651. That's 450lbs heavier than my SLK32!

I'm definitely interested in buying the pulley kit at a discount in exchange for taking any needed photos. Like I was telling Ben the other day on the phone, my dad writes for Mopar Action and also does a lot of the photography for the magazine. I'll confirm with him tomorrow to make sure he can do it and then I'll call Ben.

Thanks!

Marc

drag slicks

Marc, I've run my c with Hoosiers and actually ran slower than with stock wheel. (go back a couple of months and check post for (What a launch) I also have gone to Renntech a couple of times for a few extras and now I'm running 12.9. I have not made many runs on the dragstrip since upgrades. However I have run on the road course. Check www.Noproblemraceway.com
You have a very fast stock car. Could you post pictures of leaving the light at the track. Also photo the signature plate on the supercharger.

Hoosiers weren't designed for drag racing; they have too stiff a sidewall for drag racing. I should be able to pull 1.8 60ft times with the drag radials I just put on. Won't know for sure until tonight though.

Just curious, why do you want to see those two pictures?

Later,

Marc

Cool pictures of launch

I wanted to see the front shot. I'm interested in weight transfer.

Oh, I see now. Well, the weight transfer is definitely worse than your C32 since the SLK32 has significantly more weight in the front than the rear. I was thinking of trying a few 100 pound bags of sand in the trunk.

hi marc, i looked at the site of islanddragway. you're right it is a crappy site. but when i looked at the timeslips, all i saw under the category "street" were a lot of american muscle cars 350 chevys and 355s . no japanese or german cars. were you the only german car there? i also saw a lot of 12 second times in the street class. was the c32 one of the slower ones there? thanks for the invite and if i get a chance to go there (probably after memorial day because this next few weeks will be busy), i'll email you. i also see they have wedn nights. what types of cars show up for wedn nights? thanks in advance.
