2006 C55 Transmission problem?

Greetings all, hoping someone can help me. I've had my '06 C55 for about 2 wks now and I've noticed something, but I am not sure if it's normal or not. When driving the car and apply gas everything seems fine, but when I release my foot from the gas the car feels really heavy/sluggish/slow. It's almost as though the transmission isn't allowing the car to roll naturally on its own. As a test I sometimes throw the car into neutral when going down a hill and I feel the car coasts a lot smoother and longer than when I have the car in gear and coasting. Sometimes I can even hear/feel the engine slowing the car down.

Does anyone else experience this? The car only has 37k km's on it. I picked it up from a dealership with a 4 year warranty. I didn't notice this the first few times I drove the car, but now it's all I notice.

Thanks!

completely normal. mine does the same. these cars did have a transmission issue, but it's not of this nature.

if you're in S mode the tranny helps brake the car, it will even downshift if you're driving aggressively. In C mode, the tranny coasts more when you let off the gas.

That is normal. I also thought there was something wrong when I first got the car and even asked the dealer about when I got the car serviced, but it is normal.

Yup this is normal, same thing here in S mode. If you put it in C mode you should notice it less.

It's all good, just engine braking.

C55 AMG T with Kleemann K2 and some stuff: 414 hp and 562 Nm :-)
And a highcompression V8 too, wich really feels when you
climb off the throttle!

One of things I had to learn to master was the downshift while coming to a stop that causes a slight buck (making your smooth stop not be so smooth).

Just drive in C mode and all these "inconveniences" of the AMG Speedshift transmission goes away. In C mode, it behaves more like a typeical Benz slushbox does........priority is comfort and smoothness.

I only drive in S mode when there is little traffic, on the freeway (not in rush hour), or on the track. In day to day city driving, there isn't room to really enjoy S mode to its fullest (at least not in a major urban city).

you use "s" on the track? how does it compare to manually going through the gearbox? i was thinking about it and putting into consideration turns. if i'm in "s" coming out of a corner and i floor it, i'm sideways. i have much learning to do.

While C works perfectly fine, I keep mine in S mode all the time. There's something about that small extra lag? you feel when first starting out in second gear that I just don't like very much.

That is the way the car is supposed to act in Sport mode, true compression braking like a standard. If you don't like it, switch to C.
