Car does not start...

Hi AMG lovers,
Few days I parked my C55 as it had a flat tire, and after fixed this problem, I left it parked for 2 days, and for my sad surprise, when I tried to start the car nothing happens. All light seem to be fine, as well as the battery, and I even tried to use a brand new battery, but still nothing happens. When I parked the car all was fine, no major issues. A friend of mine told me that this could be a security feature on the AMGs when they reach or overdue the maintenance period... I did the maintenance recently, but only reset the maintenance schedule after 3 weeks... does any of you have simillar problem?

rgds,
G

Hi, thanks for the reply.
the car is now stoped for almost 3 weeks, and I can see now that the battery is dying, altough windows, lights and radio still work, but the radio only plays for a couple of minutes... but I tried to connect a new battery(well I was able to connect the cables, as I could not take off the other battery, but still the cables where properly connected), and still the car doesn´t start... I can´t understand what´s happening...

Did you check the batteries in your key or try the other one? Or did you jack the car without having the key in the ignition or disabling the motion sensor?

This is interesting...well I bought the car from germany, in fact its an US model as the speedometer comes in miles, and the car onle come with one key. It opens the doors without problem, so I presume the batteries of the key are fine...but one thing I remember. I parked the car because one tire was damaged and I asked my brother to have if fixed. For sure he had to jack the car to remove the wheel, rear wheel, and when I come home in the night, it did not start... what is this motion sensor???

Thanks,
g

There is a tilt sensor on the car, but not one that disables start up.someone answer this question, our company just became an authorized dealer for the "smart key starter" and we're not required to make orders, but I wanted to know anyones feedback on them if they have used it because I'm considering it for my car.should I start a thread?

Guys,
I had my C55 dignosed by an MB technician, and the worst result come out... when testing the computer could not get into the ECU... meaning I will need a new one but I can´t understand how could this happen, if the only thing I did was to park the car and change a flat tire... Can anyone explain me how could the ECU get damaged? And how much could this cost?

thanks,
G

I doubt they are related, it just happened to go at the same time.

Try contacting Jerry at Eurocharged first and see if he can confirm and fix it.

Again!!!!C55 ECU

Hi there, I had my C55 ECU replaced, total cost $3,000. so far the car was running fine, them due to reain season, I parked the benz, and started using my truck. I had no problems when parked the car, now after few weeks I tried to ride it, and it won´t start ... its wierd as nothing happened to it. and its the second time that I park the car, and after few days a decide to ride it, and it just decides not to start the engine... could this be again a failure from the ECU?
thanks

In my opinion, i think its weird an ECU would just go bad. I know MB's are junk from time to time, but i hardly ever hear of that. If that technically is the case, then i think MB should honor this and fix it themselves, or do something at least, as these cars aren't that old.

It seems strange that it would happen again (if that was the original problem).

Unfortunately i can't help you as to what is going on. If the ECU is bad again, of course MB will fix it as their work is warrantied. BUT, i would consider going out and buying a hand-held code reader (advance auto parts, autozone, etc). They aren't that much and see if you can actually pull any codes yourself.

I hope they find out the issue and hope to hear back as to what they have to say. I've been in your position in the past and its no fun. My C has currently been sitting for a few weeks so i'm sure it won't start when i get it back on the road in the next few days lol.

The car starting has nothing to key with key batteries that's just a FYI the batteries in the key only control the remote unlocking. Also what would an autozone scanner do that the dealers diagnostics will not? ECUs go bad quite often. I am not sure as to the location, but I have seen people that had their vehicles detailed and sprayed water in the engine compartment destroy control units in the past. Good luck I think the ECU for the C55 is about $1500.00 ;(

I'm just sayin what i would do. What if, i mean, what if they were to put a scanner on it themself and it read a problem. I would just be fishy that this happened twice. Either the dealer sucks, or mercedes sucks. Something tells me its both...
