C55 AMG question

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and I just saw a 2005 C55 with 98K miles on it and was wondering if it still had a good amount of engine life left? They want $22K for it so I wanted your input on if this would be a good deal? Thanks in advance.

C55
The asking price is too much and I am sure people here will agree with me even if I am not really an expert. I suggest you wait what other members will say. I got my 2006 C55 March last year for 25K out the door, it had 34K miles. GL!

I just bought my 05 c55 with 49k one owner clean history for 17,5... I would say rip off. Now the engine life span depends somewhat on the maintenance. If that hasnt been up to date than thats not so good. I think that really matters on these cars.

M113 V8 will be good for 300k miles EZ if you are good to it. Id say its just broken in! The price is a total joke though. There was a guy on here the other day saying he had just picked up an 06 with 11k miles for 24k, so keep shopping!

They dropped it to 19K which is still high since I have been searching and found an 06 with 60k miles for 19K. This car has the paddle shifter which I think didnt come standard on the C55s so would that be why they are asking so much?

2005 C55
Way overpriced, Maybe worth $17,000. Just go over there and haggle, don't be scared and don't pay for listed price ever. That price is just the starting point.

@OP: If you were looking in the $20,000 range, keep looking I would say. I know if you wait it out you will find a C55 with lower miles (maybe 50k - 75k) for around $17,999 to $18,999.

That being said, in that price range, why not look at a C32, or my favorite bargain car that I would buy as a weekend car if I had the money, the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6. They are selling for dirt cheap these days and they have a detuned C32 supercharged V6. The only problem is you might as well forget about Chrysler service and warranty work. You'd have to find a good MB indie.

OP, I sent you email about my 2005 C55. I think you'll be very happy with the car and the price. I can also provide references here on MBWorld and elsewhere from people that have gotten AMG and 600-series Benzes from me and they are all very happy.

A 98K mile car for $20K or $22K is crazy, stay clear of that car at that price!

Any questions let me know.

Actual paddles. I was surprised but the original owner installed everything you could imagine on here exept the rear parking sensors but he put in a rearview camera instead that activates when you put it in reverse. Its a beautiful car in excellent condition and I am going to try and talk them down because while I was researching I found an 06 with 60k miles for the same asking price of the 05 with 98k miles.

@Bruce, I am looking at getting a black C55 but your red one is beautiful!!

@Mrobinso, I like the C32 since its the same body styling and interior as my W203 N/A but I am looking for the C55 since it is slightly bigger and N/A with a lot of power.

Redrum, the one thing I did not mention in my previous post is that if the 98K mile C55 was well taken care of by the owner (with service records to show for it, including regular oil changes, transmission maintenance, etc.), then that car would be worth your time.

...a panty dropper...
Keep searching! I have seen C32s go for cheap on here so keep your eye out on the classifieds here. But its your money and if you think 19k is a fair price for it then go ahead and buy it. This just shows how the economy is trying to screw us over! lol

way too much mileage... like it was said earlier, it all depends on how it was maintained. mine 05's up to nearly 70k mileage, but it runs like new and we've maintained on time and with OEM parts.

also there's a guy near me in va who's selling a black 05 with 70-80k for 19... but he used it as his commuter to DC and it just looked beat up and not nearly as clean as mine. I suggest you keep shopping for one with lower miles... how about reaching out to all the C55 owners in scottsdale? there's tons out there
