Lowering springs quizz....

I have a stock C32 suspension, I have a set of H&R lowering springs part # 29392 which look to be made for Mercedes-Benz C240, (2001-2004) with a drop of 1.4 in the front and 1.3' in the rear.

My question is I'm satisfied with the drop in the rear as it is but the HUGE gap in the front is annoying. Would just putting on the H&R front springs with a drop of 1.4' in the front and keeping the stock springs in the back be a horrible idea????

I'm a noob when it comes to suspension. Thanks

Bigger spring pads...

Number 4 to be specific, about $25 for a pair from your local dealership.

Do you happen to know the part number for the number 4 spring pads? My dealership will only sell by vin our part number and I'm having the same issue. Thanks

I can get it when I go home this afternoon. I have a set of H&R Springs in the garage and #4 pads that I need to get around to installing.

if you do as planned, you may eventually be successful with the look after some
fine tuning, but likely find that handling will be compromised due to the unbalanced
spring rates between front and back

I'm not sure what pad was stock, however a number 4 pad will negate most of the drop in the rear and give you the look you want without sacrificing safety.

So what your saying is that if i got #4 pads for the rear it would raise it back up a little bit so that it's not slammed? 1.3 inches in the back is just too much even if I tuck the fenders...

So just call Mercedes and ask for #4 suspension pads on the rear? Do you know how much height they give?

My dealer says they can't find anything without a part number or VIN which is why I needed the part numbers maybe your dealership has a little more brains and can do it for you.

I just called my Mercedes and while I didn't get a part # they said they come in different increments...5, 9, 13, 17 millimeters. The #4 pad is the biggest one at 17 mm. Hope that helps...

For the best and safest handling you must balance the spring rates front to rear. That is not to say that they have the same compression rates but it is to say that they are designed to work together. Design your ride from the perspective of handling first and then looks. You will be much more satisfied with the results.

Just got off the phone with H&R and they said they are the exact same springs as the C32. They said for catalog purposes the part #'s are listed different but the part # in the box would be the same....WOOHOO going to put them on tomorrow

I actually just got off the phone with Mercedes as well and changed my pads to #3 which is .5 inch instead of the #4 which is .67 inches. I'm thinking a .5inch drop in the back would be perfect
