C55 100 shot video 12.4@112
Hey Guys,
Here is my first attempt at a run with my NOS. Since my transmission is still stock and the car has over 130,000 miles, I have to manually turn on the NOS at 3000, and off at 5800-6000 ish so the transmission can shift. then I turn the NOS back on. I got a best time of 12.2@114. that video will be uploaded soon!

Yes, I got his drag radials :-P
The srt-10 has 1400 HP. We had been trying to figure out all day why he's losing all power on launch, and sometimes part way down the track. He found out the next day that the battery was moving, and arcing onto the frame shorting out the whole rig.
His best run that day I believe was a 10.8@101. He was coasting the 2nd half of the run.
we were hoping to get some 9s on video but not yet.

also, it was a pain in that *** to get this launch right. I tried dyno mode nut a few runs it left in 3rd gear. still ran 12.8 running the whole run in 3rd. not sure how much the torque converter was hating me though.
My best times were by using dyno mode for the burnout, then shut off the motor. disable dyno mode, start the motor, and do the run in regular S mode. dyno mode was ****ing up my runs a lot.

That's giving a lil heat soak too!!!

NICE run! what other things did you do the the car? I was thinking of putting a 50 shot in mine... but am very SKEPTICAL that it might mess up things for me... I'm still waiting to see how these cars handle the added power and volatility of NOS...

Nice run... when were you at Speedworld? Are you in AZ? or Just testing Hooley's drags out after purchasing them.
Next time let me know I live like 5 miles from the track, I would have came out to race against you for fun.
As far as the transmission shifting, I would say if you have not done a FULL transmission flush have one done, so they get all the old fluid out of the torque converter as well, I noticed a difference shifting in mine when I did that and I have way less milage.

ruben65 - I live in Valencia, CA. We were out at speedworld to watch Dom run 9s in his srt-10. I got my transmission flushed at 100,000 miles, last spring. I'll probably be out there again soon!
nladam12 - I tried a 55 shot first, and couldn't feel the difference. I'm sure there was one but I couldn't tell. the 100 shot makes quite a difference.

I don't have any dyno numbers. I don't think they mean anything. 1/4 mile numbers are much more useful. Also, using NOS on the dyno is a good way to pop the motor! The load on the motor is much higher on a dyno.
But if I were to guess, I'd estimate 400+HP at the wheels.

using a HP calculator I get 2 different estimates.
*Using 3868 lbs (actual weight at the track) and 114 trap speed I get:
447 HP at the wheels
559 HP at the crank
(seems way too high)
*Using 3868 lbs (actual weight at the track) and 14.2 ET I get:
421 HP at the wheels
514 HP at the crank
(still seems high lol)

Factory spec says to change the transmission fluid every 39k miles in the AMG cars, so you are almost due again, and being you probably race it alot there is more stress on the fluid so could be due sooner.
I notice when I drag race in [S] mode and trip-tronic it down first gear and let it self upshift when it reaches the redline in each gear I have to let off the gas just a bit to allow it to shift or it stays in that gear to long and shifts real late.
Let me know next time your around here drag racing at speedworld, PM me.

I haven't figured out where I'm going to permanently mount the zex box, but I temporarily mounted it to a metal bracket I made which bolts to the passenger side strut tower. It's located right over the battery.
I'll get some pictures on here asap. For the wiring, I have a 40 amp relay which powers the zex solenoid and my window switch. The relay is switched on with a push button in the car. There is a TPS wire off the ECU I tapped into (pin 21 on connector 3) the yellow wire. I also tapped into the coil wire also on connector 3, however, the rpm signal was not working for my window switch. It did work when I tapped into a fuel injector wire instead.
I have a bottle heater so I ran a pretty heavy +12v wire from the battery area back to the trunk. It's following the same path as the nitrous hose. Through firewall into passenger side kick panel, followed the stock wiring gutter to the trunk.

since NOS is pretty much a linear increase across the board, I can get dyno tested and see where the peak is. then do a run just hitting the NOS over the peak to see the new peak. that might be fairly safe to do.
