The Quest Continues, maybe it's time to give up...
I'm in North Georgia (Cumming), have spent weeks driving to muffler shops looking for someone to remove the secondary cats, install an X pipe and run another 2.5 in. pipe all the way back like I've seen done in here in pics, for a true dual setup.
So far Ive struck out everywhere, I love the res delete sound but I think I am ready to go with something a bit meaner, after listening to Hooleyboy's sound on his youtube video I think this is what I want. If I cant get the cats removed here in GA, should I go with high flow cats, should I go with 200 cpsi, 100 cpsi, Im open to suggestions here? I don't want to break the bank and I am mainly doing this for the sound, I'm not gonna drag it or track it.
Anybody have any suggestions or should I just give it up? Thanks for any help you may offer.
Finally its my understanding it will pass emissions with the secondary cats off in Georgia, am I right in making that statement?

This is where mine was done.

They might say no but say you have cash and show them your not taking out the primaries.
My exhaust just passed. They installed my X Pipe as well.

I just got a true dual setup done this morning, secondary cats removed, X-pipe installed and new pipe ran the passenger side to the back.
I was a bit nervous it would be too loud and "high schoolish", but in all honesty I love it. Its quiet at idle and moderate in the low RPM range, when you get into it, it definitely comes alive.
Thanks FNR for recommending the shop, Allen was very attentive to detail and I don't think anybody else would have taken the time he did making sure it looked as good or better than rolling off the showroom floor.
I will post a video clip tomorrow when I have time.

Check engine light came on car stalled right before seems to be driving fine though, I thought I would be ok if I didn't mess with the primary cats and O2 sensors?
Thoughts?

Yea, dont send off your ECU without at least pulling the fault codes first. It could be something simple like a bad ignition coil or a plug or something. If its drivable at all I would take it to autozone or the like and have them scan it for free. Then go from there. If its not drivable they have some cheap scanners that you could buy.

Taking it to Autozone to get the code pulled now, I still cant believe I drove it all day Saturday and it was perfect and yesterday it went to hell in a hand basket, must have stalled 5 times or so, several times after restarting the car had no power at all, sort of like driving a manual car in first gear with the clutch slipping completely.

Well good thing is that it doesnt seem exhaust related. I think there were some folks on here that had some MAF issues that have cleaned it to resolve. I have not had the problem (knocks on wood) but you might be able to search for it and find a write up or something.
Do you have aftermarket filters in the car, Green or K&N?

Feel free to make fun of me, but I have second gen Green filters on right now (they are not broke or cracked, etc), and I've been playing musical chairs with them, I put them on, clean the intake/filters, then put the OEM ones on, then switch back. Ive been trying to figure out which ones work best or if I "feel" a difference. I'm leaning to leaving the Mann/OEM ones on, since it feels like I'm running a risk leaving the Green ones on there with no real benefit as I understand it.
I'm going to look for that thread and figure out what I should do next, the car is driving really bad and keeps stalling on me, erratic idle and ultimately stalling. If it is a vacuum hose problem any advise on where I should start looking first? I am mechanically inclined but not an expert on this car or used to doing advanced mechanical work.

Just a final update, problem was fixed voltage reading was the same at idle as it was at 3K RPM, MAF replaced under warranty from last time and car is back to normal, Im wondering how long before this happens again, seems to be a repetitive problem.

your MAF issues might be a result of using the green filters - IIRC, they are oil based and washable - the oil gets on the MAF and fouls the sensor - stick to the stocks
