Calling out Juan C...

So what's up man? We were going to race yesterday night and you flaked? Scared of the 185MM? I took out a few modified V8 mustangs and chilled with my bro because you didn't show... It's alright man just because your C3 is smaller than my 185mm doesn't mean we can't race...

I'd love to see this race BUT is it an equal of drivers as well??? That can make a HUGE difference in the results!!

Last Year at the drag strip we raced and were about dead even but since then we've gotten upgraded tunes and I've upgraded my intake while he upgraded his cooling system (mine is already upgraded). Should be a good one. To be continued...

Be careful, this is going to bring up another debate about how the C32 is superior to the C55.

I killed Juan in R/T last year, and the ability to keep my tires from spinning, Hahah...

He had C3 with C3 H/E. I had 185MM on stock H/E separated. Bad heat soak...

NO, I think the debate is whether the 185 and Tune is better than the Code 3 and tune??? BOTH cars are C32s. I believe that for pure HP, the 185 is the way to go, BUT in light of overdriving everything with the 185, PSK or not, the Code 3 is the route I have taken. I've run 185, 181 and also the Code 3. I just like the usability of the Code 3 for a DD.

HP wise, the Code 3 on my car was comparable to a 181 , the 185 gave me a lil more oomph BUT the bearings were squealing like pigs. This was before NW introduced the PSK.

I'd throw down if I wasn't so far away.

And no, I'm not afraid of the 185. Besides, I kinda lost interest after seeing the maintenance required on it. I want my car to make it to 250K miles without too much trouble.

So far she's been driving beautifully and wicked fast. Best kill to date from a dig was a brand new SS with an exhaust system. Unfortunately, a majority of the people with Ferrari's and such don't race. They just pose.

I was beat down by a 997 Turbo, but I expected that one. :p I just wanted to see how I'd do. I may finish off the power mods with a bigger throttle body, then call it a day.

+1, I'd be up for a drag if I wasn't 2200 miles away as well!!! You're much closer!!

Yes, those TT Porsches will get you every time. I'd even be intimidated if I had a modded C63 since they hook up so well with AWD that they just GO!! I've seen reports of 0-60 in the 2.5 range with overboost and launch control with the 2010-2011 TT!! CD and MT have those doing high 10s stock at about 130 MPH (this is stock!!) Out of the blocks a TT will get you by 2-3 car lengths and its get worse from there!!

As an aside, the Code 3 wont give quite the boost of the 185, however, the races I've had with 185s at Morrocco were SO close with the Code 3 that it almost came down to driver skill and launch (I've never run drag radials and my 60 foot time suffers accordingly as I cant launch and hook) . I still think the 185 is a lil bit quicker though. Not enough for me for the trade-offs.

+1 Thats why I went with the code3 as well. We were really close last year but I couldn't hook up. I have 265 continentals now but with the new tune the torque is killing me(in a good way)! Like I said we were neck and neck last year but we'll see what happens this year! I want some drag radials!

Sounds like fun! I wish I am nearby as well. I need to find another MB owners to meet regularly here.

I ran into a guy with a nice black C55, but he didn't want to have a friendly run due to oil leaks and low oil level

So far my races with CLK55s and C55s always resulted in the 32 winning by 3 car lengths and still pulling at 100 mph.

That's pretty typical (unless its a Kleemann or another SC'd C55 of course)

now that a couple of people are talking 185 vs C3, i'm gonna throw this out there/thread hijack...and feel free to throw it back if you dont like it at all lol.

....if i were to do it all over, i think i'd do a 181 with a machined down s/c pulley to match the specs of doing a 185 kit

why? if you do a 178 and machine down the pulley to 185 specs, you may get more belt slip. if you get the 185 and keep the stock pulley, you have a decent amount of rotating mass on the crank. 181 + machined pulley sounds good to me. less rotating mass on the crank = less hp lost....and with the same specs as 185 once the s/c pulley is machined down, i think ur golden....maybe a little more power

thoughts?

I borrowed a 181 from Jerry at EC and Jake, honestly, it was about the same or a lil less than my Code 3 on the butt dyno. The 185 was no doubt stronger than just a Code 3. I wanted a 180 with a Code 3 BUT we couldn't make it happen and I subsequently stuck with the Code 3. Note that the Code 3 is not the panacea. Stacked is the way to go if you're trying to "fine tune" the boost and keep a modicum of reliability. If Jerry or Jake had a 180 or 179, I'd do a stacked pulley system and probably not throw any CEL. I do know this, many guys, not all, who run the 185 do get CELs particularly on those cold dense air nights. I have never thrown a Code with the Code 3, even on full boost at about 45 degrees F. Just ask C32Used , I know that Vic has had a CEL issue with the 185 for a long time.

There's more than one way to skin the cat here................
