Shift boot on my C55 is worn out and looks fugly.

How much and where can I order just the leather boot?

Has anyone here replaced this on their own? Any special tools needed?

And just out of curiousity, how much will the stealership charge for this?

Yes its very easy.... just pop the shifter trim up carefully not to break the plastic tabs and then under the shifter there is a small black plastic nut I would call it, just turn that and the shifter comes off then just remove the boot and put a new one on and then repeat steps backwards and your done. Once you pop the chrome trim off you will know what I mean and its pretty self explanatory. Good luck.

Thanks! Sounds easy enough.

Called a few dealers and found out that they do not sell just the "leather boot" by itself, I have to buy a whole assembly which is around $300+.

I'm just thinking of buying this online. What MB parts website is highly recommended in this forum?

I just put a new shift knob on so I was askin about the das boot as well. When I asked at the dealer (c32) they wanted $320 for the knob and boot together and that was the only way to buy the boot. Maybe classifides is the way to go, but I can't imagine too many people having a spare boot in good condition (or good enough to make it worth the trouble). Hopefully someone knows where to buy just a new boot (no knob).

Should be pretty easy to have one fabricated. Just find someone who can sew well and recycle the old plasic trim that the leather attaches to. Install is a 5 minute DIY, if that.

I have an absolutely perfect condition part from my C55. I replaced it soon after getting the car with the crest from AMG. It's been in a box ever since. I'll sell it for 1/2 what the dealer quoted you. $150.

Mine came direct from the AMG client shop with a lot of work through a local dealer. Supposedly, www.formymercedes.com has a stick on plate.

I bought the emblem from formymercedes. Here are a few pic's. Definitely not as nice as the one kjb55 has. However, its a heck of a lot nicer than the stock top.

Formymercedes sells complete shift knobs with the Affalterbach crest too. Cost is something like $130 or so.

That's for a manual model only. Does anyone have an Auto tranny boot?

Edit: Never mind. I found it on the same ebay seller's store.
