What's the correct engine coolant temperature ?

What's the correct engine coolant temperature ?
MY CAR IS TOTALLY STOCK, NO MOD. Location: S. CAL.
It brought my attention that the engine coolant temperature of some member's car w/ ODPS from EVOSports installed oversea was too high, so I was wondering what would my car's temp be? then I check the reading from both the MFD and A/C diagnosis mode.
I checked on a 72F sunny afternoon.
the coolant temp was around 97C at peak, it did fluctuate between 88-97C,
outside temp was diaplayed at F.
So is this a normal temp?

mine is usually around that same temperature. I also read that post and was wondering if my temp was too high to. Also, how did you get the engine temp to read through the air condition system like that?

AMGDood, do a search on diagnostic mode and you'll find how to go into it on the climatronic system.

thanks for you guys' reply, here's how to show diagnosis mode on A/C panel:
AC Diagnostic Mode
Press ”rest” for aprox 5 sec. Press then the left ”auto-button” a number of times to see the different channels. Mostly I use number 22, that is the speed.
01 In-car temperature sensor.
02 Outside temperature sensor.
03 Heater core temp, left.
04 Heater core temp, right.
05 Evaporator temperature sensor.
06 Engine coolant temperature.
07 Regrigerant pressure in bar (e.g. '4' is 4 bar).
08 Refrigerant temperature.
09 Not used.
10 Heater blower control voltage (normal 08-6.0, meaning .8 to 6 volts).
11 Emissions sensor voltage (to detect atmospheric gases and recirculate interior air).
12 Sun sensor voltage (to shift airflow in car).
20 Control current for auxilliary fan (electric fan on radiator, given in milliamps or mA).
21 Engine speed (x100).
22 Road speed (km/h or mph depending on installation).
23 Battery voltage at terminal 58d (as a percentage of total voltage, e.g. 99.0 = 99%).
24 Battery voltage (e.g. 12.8 = 12.8V).
40 Climate control software version.
41 Climate control hardware version.
