No Power to Fuel Pump- What is Going On??

My C32 suddenly wouldn't start one morning after a day of running about. I first replaced the CPS thinking it was that, but it did nothing. I checked if there was pressure at the fuel rail and I found that there was none. So next I checked to see if there was power to the fuel sending unit (underneath the rear seats driver's side) and it's not receiving any power. Fuses are okay in the rear SAM. Relay is okay.

I'm at a loss. Please help. I am thinking it could be the ECU, but I have no idea how to test for this.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Mods are 181 pulley and EC tune. Not sure if they could test to see if my ECU is fried.

Mine had those same symptoms when its rear SAM died, even though the pump's fuse and relay were fine.
Unfortunately, the pump and level sender also went south shortly thereafter.

Did you check for voltage at the pump harness while cranking? Good luck.

I checked for voltage when it was in the "on" position- I believe it's position 2.

Is there a way to test for the SAM being any good? How much did it set you back?

ok, i just had someone help me crank it over while I tested for power. There is power to the fuel sender pump (rear seat driver's side) while cranking the car over.

So how do I tell if its the fuel sender pump or the actual main fuel pump that's the problem?

I took apart the fuel pump assembly on the passenger side.

It consists of an aux pump that feeds a canister that houses the main pump. I tested the aux pump and it runs fine. I'll test the main pump next to see if that is the issue. Hopefully these pictures will come in handy to someone else that refuses to pay MB $1100 for a C32 fuel pump assembly. There is no reason why a Walbro can't be fitted to the canister assembly.

The main fuel pump is a Pierburg (part # 7.22013.02.0) and is also used on the E39 BMW's. There are tons of these for sale on Ebay for around $100.. See the thread below for the exact part number:

update:

I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter but I am still not getting any fuel at the rail. There is power to the pump- 10.1 volts when cranking. I gave up and had it towed to the dealer. Dealer is stumped as of now and says I have done everythign they would have done so far. They ordered a fuel sender to test if the one I have is bad. They said it had high resistance, and it could possibly be the culprit.

It got an entire new fuel pump assembly and fuel sender unit. Fixed the problem.
