First Mercedes - C55 AMG - Ticking Noise
Hey guys, just registered, looks like a pretty kick *** site here.
Well, yesterday I purchased my first Mercedes. It's a 2005 C55 AMG with about 64k miles on it. It damn nice inside and out. Coming from a 03 330Ci BMW the fit and finish of the MB trumps it in every way. It's put together real nice.
I did not notice during the test drive that it had a ticking noise. Been doing some reading and I understand that these motors are noisy. Going to check out the headers later on and see if there are any leaks. The noise does increase frequency with increased RPMs. Hoping it's not internal!
Anyways, this car has some *****, but very refined. Now i'm dreaming of a C63 AMG hah!

Thanks Luis.
Say, I just went outside to record the noise will the vehicle was still warm from a recent drive.
What do you guys think?

edit: Now that i'm sitting here watching the video i'm wondering if the serpentine belt needs replacing.

Thanks for all the advice guys and Matutino, thanks for the video!
On my home board(mustang site), I found a guy who works at MB and told him what was going on. He said the lifters are pretty common and that they have used the additive BG MOA before. He said it quiets them down a lot. Unfortunetly I can't find the stuff local.
I'm wondering if the full synthetic Lucas additive would quiet it down?
He also said it's not going to affect much, other than being noisy.

Congrats to a superb car!
Tried an oilchange?
Mobil1 0-40 or the thicker 5-50?
That could maybe help you get rid of the ticking noise!

Had the oil changed at the dealer with whatever they call for, 0-40 I believe. Still ticks!
It boggles my mind it doesn't do it when the car is completely cold.
I took the car to a MB tech's house and he and other of his tech friends listened to it. I brought over a stethoscope and they both think lifters, even when it doesn't do it on cold start ups. I've been trying to locate BG MOA local, but having trouble.

BG MOA didn't change anything. I guess later down the road i'll pull the valve cover and see if I can hear specifically which one is the problem child.
Since it doesn't affect anything i'll probably wait till it cools off some. 105+ sucks!
