Air Intake Temp

Just wondering for those out there who measure their temps what your intake temps are? From my understanding it is all relative to ambient temp and if you have cooling mods you would expect a 10-15C increase from ambient..

I'm running around 30-50C here in Sydney but still would like to get it down on those hotter days. Is there a point in which the supercharger noticeable becomes less responsive or is that range making it work at its peak still?

Are you sure your IC pump is working right? 50C is a big increase. And yes, colling mods will give you the 10-15C over ambient if your pump is working right.

Do you get IAT from the COMAND interface or some other way?

Thanks

I monitor IAT's with a data logger all the time. On average amb temp at 25-30+ degrees Celcius I get 37-45 degrees Celcius IAT's. 50-60 is not uncommon after a bit of heatsoak. A short WOT throttle run on the highway and IAT's would reach mid 70's but quickly drop back to mid 50's after I let off. FYI, supercharger cuts out if IAT's exceed 93 degrees celcius. So your IAT's are fine.

I don't know how kleemann implemented this but in order for it to work they would need to feed the output of the IAT sensor to the ECU and update the ECU software to recognize it as a valid parm. Then you should be able to read it through the OBD2 port.

I bought an obdii bluetooth device and an app for my phone that allows me to read quite a few parameters through my phone. I'll let you use next time I see you to see if it works.

Looks like mine is normal.. My pump is working as if it wasn't the SC would be cutting out as it used to when the original pump was faulty.

It ranges from 30-50 depending on ambient temp as from what you guys have said it is about right for the cooling mods.. just thought I would check it out.

I see what you mean now. The way you phrased it initially it sounded like you are 30-50C over ambient.

When I had my C32 I would always see 45-55C intake temp when driving around Sydney in Summer. Even upto 60C I would see if stuck in traffic. as long as it doesn't remain above 55C under high loads then that about the best you can expect in our summers.
