I have seen a V8 Kompressor like that. Definitely not normal. The one I saw looked like it had some sort acid wash that went bad.

IMO that looks like salt corrosion or some sort of mineral deposit. Have you been driving it on salted roads? Might try getting your engine detailed. Also, has anyone been washing/detailing your engine? Perhaps they left soap behind and that's the residue?

You might want to try engine degreaser/cleaner on it.
Sometimes when water dries (Houston water has a lot of calcium and crap in it) it makes that, if you wash with hose water, you should always hand dry it.

I have those...
on other parts of the engine parts, not on the S/C. It's on one of those wheels with belts...don't know how it called, looks like a starter or something.
I have a oil stain on top of engine right on the AMG Logo area. Dealer had tried to wash it off but can't, I also tried... Dealer said MB won't replace the cover since its only cosmatic, unless there is something wrong. Oh, well...
I will take some pics later.

white spots
I have them on the SC too. Came like that from the dealer with 3 miles on it. Haven't tried to clean yet. Will try this weekend and post if successful in removing.
