They are purple and there is one on each side of the engine bay and neither are connected to anything nor can I find where they go.

What I don't get it is, if they go from one headlight to the other...then why take the long way all around the engine bay? Why not take a straight shot from one side to the other on the radiator support?

Hmmm...but the washers are in the bumper and these apparently go to the headlights. You sound sure of this. My friends C55 has headlight washers and I recall they worked without these plugged in.

I tried to when replacing the ballast and it was really stuck on there, I feared breaking it so it left it on and twisted the headlight around

I thought I was sure, my car has one that hangs down beind the washer jug next to the front pump. I didn't notice seeing a place on my xenons for anything like that to plug. Maybe it has something to do with the autolevelers.

It is only used on vehicles with Xenon and Bi-Xenon headlamps. It is used for the pneumatic level switch that is located in the car, only if car has xenon headlamps. Basically there are not any leveling screws on the headlights and it is all done through vacuum servo motors.

Today I messed around with the vacuum lines and the headlights definitely do not have provisions for them. The do, however, have manual height adjustments so I aligned them and everything is great now. I guess the vacuum lines are meant to just hang there.
The car is xenon though so I guess QuickVr4 is mistaken?
