I'm at the dyno w/ my friends C55...

How is it that this car put down 289whp stock when it had issues and now with headers, exhaust, and ecu programing it puts down 288whp? I'm shocked. Thr car runs beautifully unlike before but it's weak. Damn...my friend, the owner of the car, is going to be soooo disappointed when he finds out. Still one more run left to go.

The results you show are pretty typical of a non-FI C55. Much depends on the dyno and operator. Stock, my C55 was at about 290 so you're in the hunt for sure ( I ran at CPT on a Dyno Dynamics and it was a heartbreaker) . A tune won't do much for that car, NOR will headers and exhaust. The stock exhaust doesnt flow too bad and headers may be good for 8-10 HP max.

Note: Another dyno on a different day could show 370 WHP. Don't let it get you down. I hear all these guys running 350-410 on their C55s BUT have yet to see one non FI break into the 12s in the quarter (save one and he was non-FI heavily modded) . The true and best dyno is the qtr mile track.

Well, I did a final run of 289whp and told the operator I was done. As he loosened and removed the straps I walk by the passenger rear tire and it was ON FIRE!! Not literally, but it was REALLY hot. The drivers side brakes were cold however. It was on dyno-mode so I know it wasn't the car so I figured it was a stuck brake caliper.

I get home and lift the car up and the wheels turn very free with no bind at all. Both brakes were very cool as well after driving for almost an hour. I said, WTF?

Then it hit me, the dyno operator must have pinches a brake line when he strapped the car down. This happened to me once before, many years ago, and the results were the same. DAMMIT...I just wasted a day in the dyno...at least he only charged me $20...lol.

I understand what you mean but I've seen some dyno's here that go from 290-300 to 350-370whp with the same mods this C55 has. I can understand a 10-15whp difference from one dyno to the next or even from one day to the next...but not a 50+whp difference.

Also, in dragtimes there are two C55's in the high 12's with only bolt on's. I dunno...

I must say though, My E55 may have 200whp/250wtrq more than this C55, but the C55 is STUPID FUN! I may have to change cars after driving it for a few days.

Will a CLK55 N/A in the 12's count?

I agree with Glenn though, take it to the 1320 for the real test. if you run low 13's. You are fine. Don't get caught up in the dyno numbers.

I don't care how much it puts down per say...I care to see a gain, and it gained 0whp with all the mods. But after the brake incident it kinda makes sense.

My first dyno they wrapped the strap around the parking brake cable on the right wheel and it wouldn't turn at all. So maybe they didn't pull the cable as tight and it only put a drag on the wheel instead of locking it up.

That's exactly what I'm thinking happened.

The same thing happened to me and I'm sure it's the same dyno. Then I took my car to Predator and saw a 70 HP increase over Sporty's. I never figured out exactly how they messed it up but the operator (chamaco) blamed it on the car.
