Oil filter and vac pump question?

Sorry if this question has been covered but I just read through 4 pages of search results without answering my question, which is:

I am going to start to do my own oil changes, and have decided to get a VAC pump to do it with. The question is the one I see recommended the most is the Mityvac. I searched online and found the 7201 Fluid Evacuator but it's listed capacity is 8 liters before shutoff, and my C32 ought to have 9 liters in it. I don't see a bigger one offered, so, do I have to suck out a bit, dump it and then suck the rest, or what?

Second, everybody seems to specify the Mann Fleece filters but when I search I get Mann-Filter HU 718/5 X Metal-Free Oil Filter, and it does not say anything about fleece. Personally I am a fan of K&N filters on my other vehicles, and my local Oreily's can get the K&N's in a day, so it would be alot more convenient to use them. However I don't really want to do a live demonstration of the commercial where the car coughs out its motor but trying for easy....

So, in short, am I looking at the right vac and what should I do about the filter?

It sounds like the OEM filter is definitely the best particularly if you are going to do the usual mercedes 15,000 km oil changes. There are lots of pumps available. I am going for cheap 9L one. Otherwise yes you have to pump some oil out of the pump before you finish getting it all out of the engine.

You can get the lower capacity VAC pump, suck 8 liters, pour off one and suck the remaining 1 liter, but any marine supply store will have a selection of VAC pumps with 9 liter capacity. I got mine from these forums and it will hold 9 liters.

Bosch 72204 is the OEM filter in the box. O'Reilly can get that in a day also. Mann and Hummel is the OE supplier - Bosch has a 50/50 partnership, hence the OEM in the box. MB is very strict that the filter be a fleece type. The Bosch or the M&H you listed are definitely fleece type. Ebay has great bulk deals on these, and they're not too bad straight from the dealer.

I live in the middle of flatland illinois, there isn't a decent marine supply within 200 miles of me....LOL Any suggestions on what brand or model I shold be searching for that will do 9+ liters? Compressed air or Electric doesn't matter.

If UPS can deliver where you live a Mityvac 7201 will work. If you're going electric, a Jabsco pump and a three gallon bucket will work. A cheap $25 drill pump will work too.

Autohaus AZ and Pelican sell fleece filters.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply I was too far out in the sticks for UPS, I was just addressing the comment about "any marine supply store." I already know from when I went looking for a Johnson CM30 that the local boat shop doesen't even stock a bottle of water, much less parts...

Yup that's the one I have; the Mityvac 7201 will hold 2.3 gallons. I get the Bosch fleece filters (Bosch pt. no. 72204) on ebay in bulk.

I use the mityvac, yes you suck out 6 quarts, fill a pale and pump the remaining. You are not supposed to suck to capacity.

Ok, I just noticed the 7201 is a MANUAL pump, and the 7300 is Compressed Air.
http://www.mityvac.com/pages/products_fee.asp
Is there any reason not to get the 7300? [I do have compressed air available]
