if i were still in the market for short tube headers, i'd pick those up. that's pretty cheap.

Search these boards - they are lots of posts on headers, including the AMS ones. If I remember correctly, they are a lot of work to install and you don't get much of a power increase out of them. Also, if AMS is not selling them anymore, that should you tell you something...

That's surprising, I always thought that the C55 really benefited a lot from just headers and exhaust. The stock manifolds are very restrictive. Someone should try this:

AMS doesn't sell them any more because they were bought out. I have the AMS headers on my car, I think the left one is slightly warped in the front and leaking just a little bit. Sometimes I can hear it and and sometimes I can't. I bought mine used though, so I suppose anything could have happened to them. The install is "easy" as it was basically just swaping out the manifolds. From what I saw on here, they don't make that much power since the main restriction in the exhaust is the primary cats. I was after more sound mainly and they did get me a little more sound. If you're looking for power; save your money for the Kleemanns, tune, and get high flows to stay legal. That's the next endeavour for my car.

The C55 does benefit from headers and exhaust mod's - folks have had good success with Kleeman long tubes for example. The AMS shorties do not produce the results of the Kleeman's from what I have read.

In terms of ease of install, the owner of AMS told me to expect roughly 10 hours for the install by someone who knows what they are doing. Seemed like a huge investment in something that did not generate much incremental power. So I stopped looking at them. This was over a year ago.

What kind of power gains do they estimate from long tubes on the N/A 5.5? Looking into headers for the 6.0 LS2 lately and a decent set of LT's can net you 30+WHP for $500-$1000.

I've seen Kleemann or MBH headers on here with a tune net a good 60+whp. Like I said though, it's mainly because of the factory primary cats.

C55 AMG T with Kleemann K2 and some stuff: 414 hp and 562 Nm :-)
A couple of weeks ago I went for Kleemann headers with primary cats
deleted. Kleemann gave me a powerchart from another car with similar
setup that showed 414 hp (at the engine) and 576 Nm.
But the figures wary of course from car to car. They thought that
the tune (incl. Ecu-tune) worked very well on my car after the testdrive...

Do you guys want to see some pictures from the operation?
