C55 Wheel Well Accident

C55 Wheel Well Accident
Driving home from a meeting this morning on the highway and my passenger wheel well arch must have been struck by something. Broke it loose from the clips or bolts on the bottom and basically shredded the damn thing. So i had to limp the car home at 10mph because it was rubbing all over the place and i didnt have anything with me to secure it to the car.
HELP! I am planning on jacking the car up on that side, taking off the wheel and seeing the extent of the damage. Anyone have any experience with the plastic wheel well? Is this going to be costly? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Also I am in the Ormond Beach, FL area so if anyone is around here and could lend a helping hand that would be awesome. Will snap pictures once i get everything off the car. Thanks!

okay good news so far, It looks like the only piece that was affected was the piece that covers the front underside corner underneath the front bumper as well as the front portion of the wheel well, where it attached to a much larger piece. Anyone have a PT# or place where i can look up the part. Looks like i should be able to replace it myself. No wiring damage.

Well just so this thread is worth something, here is the part # for the Passenger side wheel well that runs from the front bumper to the well. Ordered part, have the old one removed, looks like it went through a blender.

There are three pieces that constitute the fender liner. Rear, mid and front/lower. It's not too bad to remove and reinstall - each one is held on with several fasteners, a mixture of pop type plastic clips, screws or plastic washer/nuts. Did you remove the damaged one already? When I bought my car in November, one of the front/lower pieces needed to be replaced. Bloody thing cost me nearly C$100.
If you need to pay a shop to do the removal and reinstallation, I urge you not to!
It's very simple, just jack up the car, remove the wheel and off you go. 15 minutes tops, unless one of the fasteners is buggered. But that's unlikely, as God bless the Mercedes engineers, the only ones that could really get seized are the bolts or nuts, and the nuts are plastic so they don't rust.

The scary part was being on the side of the highway with all that plastic dragging by the wheel. Once i got it home and got the wheel off, i was relieved.

Here is a little trick I used when this happend to me. Use a heat gun (or a hair dryer) to heat up the area that may be coming in contact with the tire and while it is hot, push it forward with a stick. Then (while it is still hot and pushing it with a stick) spray some water on it so that it will keep the shape you want.
