C55 Front Caliper Pins Backing Out
Okay, so this week my car starting giving me a weird scraping noise from the drivers side. Increasing in pace as the speed grew, but oddly not quieting once I hit the brakes. Sometimes the sound would change with brake application, but it would never silence. Too shrill to be a wheel bearing and there wasn't any noticeable drag on the wheel. I was at a loss, and with a busy week at the firm, I had to wait until tonight to get the wheel off for a look.
I saw that both of the caliper pins had backed out. One was completely out of its hole and barely held in by the retention clip along the side of the pads! (hope you can visualize-I should have taken a pic) I know that I knocked them home completely because I am very careful with my maintence- anyone else have these back out on them?

Thats crazy!!! How long ago did you do your brake job? I'd put in an order for new pins and a retention clip for the fronts. Can't cost too much and better safe than sorry.

Yeah, I think I will do that. Blew my mind- combination of relief that it wasn't something expensive & fear that it was happening right under my nose. The brake change was only about 3 mo ago-New rotors & pads. Take care guys!

Yeah, the punch set is extra handy for this. I did the brake job sans bourbon and made a special point of tapping them all the way in- I'll pick up another set of pins for sure!
