C55 No Audio

My C55's audio has gone completely out. There is absolutely zero audio coming from any source. I looked at the wire diagram and pulled the appropriate ones that were listed in other threads. Nothing seems to work.

I should note that after it went out the first time I started the car and went for a drive and it started to cut in / out and then started temporarily working again but after I turned the car off it hasn't worked again since.

I can change the song from my unit and steering wheel, I can check to see if it's playing by watching the time of the track, I can even go in and mess around with the surround sound / speech / normal sound settings.

I'm getting really frustrated because I'm running out of options and I'm fearing it's something remotely serious.

Is there anything that I've possibly looked over / not done?

I appreciate any and all responses.

You have check all the fuses? Have you check the fuse for the CD changer?
Sounds like a component of the MOST ring is off which causes no sound

It's hard to read the diagram since it's all in German and I'm not fluent in German by any means.

I thought I checked all the fuses, I may not have. Is it located on the driver side?

How do I get that back on? Is it something I could fix myself?

I believe I've heard of these having a water leak in the trunk and killing the amp. Might want to check that.

Probably a faulty amp or command, I don't think our cars have the water drainage issue.

I have an audio 20 head unit from my C55, used less than 2 years or 8k miles. If that ends up being what is defective, let me know. I'll sell it for the going eBay prices.

Checked all the fuses and everything looked good. Whenever I go to change my sound settings it changes from CDO to CD. Whenever audio actually worked it would stay on CDO. Is there a setting or something I'm missing?

On two separate occasions my audio was extremely garbled after heavy rain. All stations/inputs are effected until I shut the car off and left it for a few hours. Really weird, although I have never lost audio completely and mine was only intermittent. Any driving in bad weather before you lost all audio? I would check that amp either way (though I personally have no experience with it)

It stopped working completely after a car wash one day. That wasn't the first car wash I had given it though so I'm not entirely sure if it's that. Where can I check the amp at?

I had this. It was my first repair with the 32. But with my experience the comand would fire up and there would simply be no audio. Dirt etc blocks some of the drainage holes around the trunk seal and water finds its way to the amp. Fries it. I had the amp repaired as it costs a small fortune for a replacement in AU but not so bad in the US : http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_nk...d=150614923885

this exact same thing happened to my 05 c55 about a month ago. i grabbed the fuse box diagram and looked over ever single fuse that i thought had something to do with audio/radio and they were all good. so i took took the fuses out one by one and shoved it back in place.... and wa la the audio worked again. you should try it.. but i dont think mine had anything to with the amp being wet becuase when it happened it was a sunny day.

Just a thought, disconnect battery for 30 sec and reconnect. The electronics on this car can act strange, I've experienced the radio cut out, front head lights that won't light up. So maybe rebooting everything might do the trick.

Mine is very weird because my Command Unit has 0 function in the audio screen when it is on. The map and Nav work but without sound. The audio screen displays the radio station that is was last set to and i cannot even seek. It seems like the Command is Frozen when in the Radio screen.

Any feedback?

What kind of solutions have you guys come to with this issue? I have an 05 C55 and I have had similar issues. I have searched throughout the forums for answers and have only found people in similar situations. The first time it happened to me was on a sunny day, no water anywhere and I turned her on and like most people I had all command controls just no audio. I let it sit for about thirty minutes while at lunch and when I came back it worked fine. Now after a week of it working fine I gave her a car wash and hopped back in to find the command working but without sound yet again. Is it fuses or amp or what? What was your guys' fixes?

I had the exact same experience - zero audio with head unit turned on, trunk leak had fried the amp, had the amp repaired and *thought* I had the trunk leak dealt with but turned out not so the next time through a car wash I started hearing the pre-death sizzle/crack of water getting on the amp again. I gave up trying to fix the leak and instead fashioned a bit of copper flashing to act as a 'roof' over the amp without disrupting the air cooling flow, and have had no issues since. I think fixing the leak requires re-installing the rear glass and just haven't gotten to it yet...

And on the 05 C55 it is located on the left side of the trunk? Is there a DIY for getting to it, even a quick write-up? If not, I may do one when go to troubleshoot mine.

Pretty sure it's on the passenger side, unless they made a change from '04 to '05; getting to it is a matter of taking out the interior cladding, which is held in with various plastic button-clips. The plastic trim over the bottom of the trunk opening has to come out first. There's another plastic piece right behind the back seats that covers the phone control unit that also has to come off (torx bolts holding luggage clips). After that it's just scanning the surfaces of the various cladding pieces looking for button-clips.
