C55 AMG Wheels Machined Finish?
I just had my wheels re-finished by a mobile curb rash service and the car seems to lost the luster it had before. I could have sworn the factory color and finish were machined. The service claims they have restored the color and finish back to factory.
Can anyone confirm this? Please see the before and after pictures.

It is hard to tell form the pic but that looks like paint to me. Also if they are factory machined rims they usually have a clear anodize on them.

Great to hear and somewhat of a relief to know that OEM wheels are painted. Now I can stop worrying about the finish and enjoy the beauty of the actual work. Thanks for the input folks.

$100 per wheel
You can find a mobile service near your area in the below link. Better yet, if you have a remanufacturing center near you, then I'd take it there.

Some words of advice is if you take it anywhere to fix, I would tell the person to be careful and detailed about not applying too much paint and clearcoat over the AMG logo that's engraved in the wheels.

Thanks - those curb rashes were such an eyesore. The car basically looks as new as it can get now.
Here are some random pics and a few more finished pics.

Mars Red C55 is drool-worthy!
Sorry for misunderstanding, so they repaired/repainted/matched the curbed damage? They didn't remove the paint all together right?

I love Mars Red now. It wasn't my 1st choice but it has grown on me.
The service didn't remove/strip the original paint completely. They sanded the entire wheel, then applied some type of adhesion promoter for the paint.

Looks excellent man! Unfortunately, after getting run into this weekend, I will be having to have my left rear wheel refinished as well. I'll be sure to let them know that all four corners need the treatment so they look good together.

To follow up, my car is going in for repairs today... Do they have to remove the tire for the refinishing, then install and re-balance?
I will follow up with my wheel repair results.

No, they don't remove the tire from the wheel. They just pull the tire back & away from the lip of the wheel. Make sure they use enough metallic or whatever it is to give it that factory luster and make sure they don't overspray the AMG engrave on the wheel. Good luck!
